Owner description: A stroll through Buxton Country park from Poole's Cavern leads to the summit of Grin Low at 1440' altitude and the Victorian viewing tower of Solomon's Temple.Built in 1896 the 20' tower with spiral stairs give a magnificent platform to view the surrounding Peak District landscape and the Spa town of Buxton in the valley below.

Fantastic for dog walkers with lots of varied walks but on the down side, they are very steep in parts. There is a 'Go Ape' within the woods and Pooles Cavern is nearby for those who want to go underground! The Temple on top of the hill is worth the effort too, as it's free and the views on a clear day are spectacular.

Either from Green Lane in Buxton or take the car to Grin Car Park and walk up (easier walking). The views across Buxton are splendid.

We had just one day to spend here on the homeward leg of our break. The weather was glorious and the walk to the temple was not as onerous as it looked it might be. Fantastic views to Buxton from the top and not too many steps to climb.

A little bit of a gentle climb from Poole Cavern car park through forest takes you up to a field and the small folly that is Solomon's Temple. Lovely views from the top over Buxton and the Peak District surrounds. Well worth the walk!

If you can find the best route up, then you will enjoy this steep walk to the summit of Solomon's Temple and the view from the top. We found ourselves floundering around the area below looking for clues and ended up taking what must have been the 'teenagers' route up (muddy, sheer, treacherous). Thankfully we found a more civilised route down :)
