“Peace and quiet with luxurious home comforts.”
Reviewed October 6, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We visited for a friends 50th birthday and stayed for a weekend in the main house. The property is well laid out with good quality furnishings without being ostentatious. The bedrooms were private and very comfortable. The views were amazing and the shepherds huts were idyllic. I would recommend Cae Marchog for a family/ friends gathering of up to 16 people and there was plenty of space to entertain and be together, and I would definitely like to return.

“Beautiful house in amazing location”
Reviewed September 9, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We have stayed at Caemarchog every spring for the last six years. We first came with our eldest child when he was 2. This year we returned with a 7, 4 and 2 year old in tow. They all love it and beg us to rebook every year, which we are very happy to do!

We have a great time walking, exploring, paddling in streams and running round the big fields that surround the house. We also love a trip to Hay to choose some books, good food and an ice cream.

The house is very cosy and well equipped, which makes it a pleasure to stay in.

Reviewed August 25, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This was our third visit - as always, the house is very comfortable house, it is a wonderful and peaceful location, but there is lots to do for all the family - and when you are tired you can always relax in the hot tub!

“Idyllic retreat”
Reviewed August 23, 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed as a group of 10 friends at the house in the hills over new year and had the most fantastic time. The house and barn are in great condition and were spotless with both kitchens very well equipped. The hot tub is an added bonus! The house is very much in the middle of nowhere with incredible views and surrounding countryside and a great drive to get there. It is located close to hay-on-wye which is a lovely place to visit. The owners were easy to contact making the booking process very straight forward.

I would highly recommend the house in the hills and would love to go back.

“This place literally takes your breath away”
Reviewed May 19, 2016 for a stay in October 2015

This place literally takes your breath away. The location is stunning and the house and barn are finished to the highest standard with impressive details not missed. Everything is entirely in keeping with the surrounding countryside, with beautiful wood and stone blended together with the best of craftsmanship.

As soon as we stepped inside we felt at home. In fact we loved it so much we held our wedding reception there, with the barn, courtyard and house providing a perfect space for a large party. All our guests loved the location and the beautiful house and barn - the only neighbours were the sheep who seemed entirely happy with our music!

We stayed on for our honeymoon and even with only 2 of us, the place felt very cosy. The house and barn both have log burner/open fires, great local art work, luxury bathrooms, welsh wool blankets and beautiful linens. All the touches you need for a 5* stay in the mountains! And sitting in the hot tub, glass in hand, gazing at the amazing sky is a treat you will never forget.

Steve and Glyn are true gentlemen, and nothing is too much trouble for them in ensuring your stay passes without a problem. You will not be disappointed by this very special place. A real gem in what is a very beautiful part of the world.....book it!

Dear Emilly and Darren,

Firstly congratulations to you both. I hope you are settling in to married life?
It was a privilege and a pleasure to host your wedding at the House in the Hills. From what I hear the Hills were certainly alive that night With The Sound of Music!!
We wish you both a wonderful, happy future together and look forward to welcoming you both again someday, maybe for your first wedding anniversary?
Best Wishes.

“Just fabulous”
Reviewed May 17, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This was our second trip to The House in the Hills and we hope to keep visiting. The house and barn are beautifully restored and the location is just magical...you feel like you're on holiday from the moment you drive up to the gates. There are plenty of beautiful walks straight from the front door, or if you want to cosy up inside there are big spaces where a large group can congregate together and smaller rooms where you can read a book on your own. We just love it here. Can't recommend it enough.

“Luxurious 'get away from it all' retreat in beautiful natural surroundings”
Reviewed May 10, 2016 for a stay in November 2015

We had a wonderful weekend with family and friends at the very nicely appointed Caemarchog. The location in the hills is stunning, and the house and barn both have a quality feel about them, from the luxurious bathrooms, the aga in the kitchen, the cosy sitting room with huge fireplace and tv, crisp cotton sheets on comfy beds, to the hot tub on the terrace. The location is perfect for exploring the hills, local fields and river (which the kids enjoyed, or nearby Hay. I would thoroughly recommend this rental.
