“Worth the drive”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

I had learned about Tintern Abbey early in my planning and it was high on my must make happen list.We got there fairly late in the day so it was all locked up, but you can still see around this amazing structure that has been disused for such a long time, in the late afternoon light it was amazing.I am so glad we made effort to have a look at it.

Splendid scenic venue, excellent random amusing cattle around the place, really good opportunity for photo's, interesting themed market stands like basket weaving etc.

“impressive ruins”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Arrived here on a very wet day, so only viewed the Abbey from the road and car park - but its an impressive building and lovely setting, so would definitely have spent time walking around the place if the sun had peaked out

“Opening hours”
Reviewed June 15, 2013

We arrived with Canadian friends in the late afternoon on two successive days in early June and were only able to see this beautiful building from the road, as it closed at 5pm. In the long light evenings of summer it would be good if were open for another couple of hours.
