Description: We are a local pub in the heart of Chepstow town. We overlook the beautiful River Wye. All our food is freshly prepared and cooked to order and we pride ourselves on personal customer service. Our bar is fully stocked including three different ales, including local artisan suppliers to support local trade wherever possible. We also have our own Coffee shop (The Coffee Boat) providing luxury tea's, coffee's and cakes.

Went here on trip adviser reviews. We did book which was just as well as it was really busy. The young man behind the bar was very polite & knowledgeable about wine which was very reasonably priced @ £2.80 for a medium glass. There were only 2 waitresses hence the slow service but we were told of the delay & kept updated. The sunday lunch was one of the best I have had in a long while the lamb was so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it. The veg were all fresh & a great selection & the yorkshire puddings were freshly cooked. I couldn't fault this we will come back again.

One of the oldest Pubs in Chepstow, on the banks of the Wye, between the two road bridges. Good choice of real Ales in a well stocked bar with a varied selection of well cooked and presented Bar and Restaurant dishes. The first floor gallery restaurant overlooks the bar and has good views of the fast flowing tidal River Wye, its a very pleasant, relaxing space to eat, drink and people watch. Off the bar is a low ceilinged lounge with low sofas in front of a roaring open log fire grate, wonderful on a winters day. It also has a large patio area on the river bank, ideal to watch the flow and ebb of the secong biggest tidal ranges in the world. Well worth a visit

I dined here in the upstairs restaurant with family and we were pleased with the friendly service we received. The food was very reasonably priced and the menu was centred on typical pub classics such as scampi and burger with chips. There is also flexibility in terms of the portion size for certain dishes. Given the nautical theme of the pub, however, I was disappointed that there weren't any fish dishes on the specials board. If there were a few more interesting choices available I would dine here more frequently.

Had two Sunday lunches here in the past month and they're honestly the best two I've ever had! Couple that with my favourite beer in the world ever (timmy taylor's landlord) and its a winner for me. First started coming here about a year ago and back then it was an average pub in a good location. Suspect the management might have changed (something has!) because the food and beer are now first class. It can be a bit quiet sometimes hence only 4 stars for atmosphere but staff always happy and very friendly and going to be spending many more Sunday afternoons here :-)

The Boat is an OK pub on the banks of the river Wye at Chepstow. The beer choice is good, the wine choice at the bar terrible. The quality of the food in the upstairs restaurant and in the bar is really changeable...I have had excellent food and at other times it has been terrible. I don't know if the chef changes or he simply has a bad day!
Fish whenever available tends to be the best choice, vegetables offered as accompanyments are uniformly awful. The wine list is good and reasonably priced.
Service is friendly but amateurish.
