Just back from a Fri-Sun 2 night Autumn Break. Been to Dunkeld several times over the years as a stop off on route North, but 1st without kids and dog (although observations from our stay, both would have been made very welcome). Perfect getaway, very relaxing in a lovely setting.
Room was clean and comfortable, staff brilliant, "nothing a bother". Food superb...lots of choice from standard "pub fare eg.burgers etc" to local specialities". Portions just right...try the Cheesecake..absolutely delicious.

Room Tip: Hotel doe'snt have a lift, so if you are less mobile, give the hotel a call and ask for a lower...

Just back from a Friday - Monday stay with our golfing friends and have to say not impressed - room comfortable although could have been cleaner - staff very friendly but food was a a real let down - when booking for a party of 12 we weren't advised that there would be a set price for evening meals and anything over that would be chargeable to the rooms - this would not have been a problem had we been advised when booking but a bit annoying to be advised of this when we had checked in and arrived for our meal - the menu was the same for the entire weekend even though there was a 'Specials Board' the food didn't change (except for the soup) the price charged for house wine was overpriced and have to say the quality left a lot to be desired could have bought a better quality in the local supermarket for a lot less - it was their loss as we didn't purchase any more wine with diner - breakfasts were ok some mornings you got 2 pieces of bacon and others you got 1 (maybe they hadn't ordered enough!!!!)- certainly won't be back at this hotel which is a shame as we really liked Dunkeld - to save themselves a lot of hassle they would be better having a set menu each night for guests who book fore DBB

Stayed on Thursday night enroute to West Scotland. We had two rooms a double and a twin.We have two dogs and my son and partner one.
This is an excellent place to stay with dogs very welcoming for people and dogs.
Although in the main street it was a few strides to dog walks along the Tay.
The rooms were bright and clean and the hotel seems to be in the process of a refit
The bar was ok I don't think they have got to that bit yet
The Bistro was busy with a mix of locals and the food very nice standard fare
Breakfast was very good with perfectly poached eggs to order which can't always be said
Overall this is a very nice place to stay and I would not heisitate in returning

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel were very quiet our companions stayed towards the side of the ho...

Five of us walked in for an evening meal after a days walking in the area. It wasn't busy so seated with no problem. So so decor and atmosphere but the menu looked nice with good service. Starters and main courses were tasty. Portions just the right size. The sweets a bit disappointing. The beer was first class!! Overall we enjoyed it and would recommend it...mind you we were all very hungry and thirsty.

After a day visiting two local distilleries, we were planning on heading back down the road home to one of our usual favourite restaurants. Instead we remembered going to a hotel for a meal with family here last year. Deciding it was worth a revisit we headed in.

Despite it being a Saturday evening we were early enough to be squeezed in before someone else came to take the table. It is well worth booking a table here (at least on the busier days it would appear) although they do seat people in the bar and offer food from exactly the same menu.

We decided to have starters, my wife having a light, fluffy potato crabcake, and myself having a glorious battered Brie. The batter was saffron and beer batter, and deliciously light and crisp.

Our mains were equally good, the lamb shoulder was incredibly tender, falling apart on the fork and sweet. The accompanying vegetables were creamy mash and crisp baby corn and peas. I decided the burger mentioned in another review on here was worth a shot, and ordered the cheese and jalapeño burger. I enjoy chilli and was pleasantly suprised when there was actual jalapeño on the burger, nestled under a layer of cheese. It wasn't a mere hint either, this was a delicious companion to a succulent, quality burger.

Just to complete my satisfaction there was a choice of Real Ales. The barman very kindly asked my ale preferences before suggesting! If only more places could be this enlightened about beer!

We were feeling very content by this point, and decided that whilst the dessert menu had indeed looked good, we were pushing ourselves to fit more in. None of the portions were ungenerous!

All in all a great experience!

We spent a nighty here recently and really loved it...
The rooms were comfy and clean, we had a top floor room and couldn't fault it!
The food was great and served with a smile.
I have been to Dunkeld before but it was a first for my husband... it is a really beauitful little village and should be a 'must see' stop of for all visitors to Scotland.
We will definitely be back.
Thanks again!

First stay at this wonderful Hotel. Our room was immaculate. Bed extremely comfortable, and above all spotless. The staff are amongst the best you will encounter. So friendly and helpful. The food is really good and well priced, especially for the selection available and quality. Something to sut everyone. This is the 3rd of three Hotels in Dunkeld that we have frequented, and am please to say it score top for us. The atmosphere of this wonderful building just adds to the pleasure. The decor is superb, and really, this could be a major contender for a further star addition to their present rating. Price overall was most satisfying. You feel you are getting so much more for your money. We would strongly recommend this establishment to anyone. Thank you to everyone there who mde our stay so enjoyable.
