“A Hidden Gem”

What can I say about our stay at Knockdow in the Bute self catering apartment? Simply Fantastic! I have to say we nearly fell through the floor when saw the apartment for the first time as the standard of the accommodation is equivalent to a high end luxury London hotel. The apartment is well equipped with everything you need for a self catering with lovely added touches such as a coffee machine, toiletries and welcome pack (we really loved the cakes!). The bedroom is spacious with separate area to hang clothes and the bathroom is high end with a lovely big bath and rainfall style shower over it. From the house gardens you have excellent views across to Bute (making it a good location for weddings) and there is easy access to Bute, Loch Fyne and Inverary and beyond as well as the ferry to access Glasgow. Overall, Knockdow have taken self catering to a new level making it perfect both for a short break or longer stay. Kudos to Fatima & Stuart for carrying this off and many thanks for your warm welcome. We would definitely recommend!

“most romantic and beautiful place in Scotland with the most attentive and lovely hosts”
Reviewed June 18, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We came from Switzerland to Scotland for three days. My boyfriend surprised me with this short trip to Knockdow House. It was the most wonderful and romantic setting for our engagement, which took place just shortly after we arrived there. The two hosts are the most magnificent and thoughtful people you could wish for. They attended to any of my boyfriend’s special wishes like the specially arranged candle light dinner table, the champagne, the torches along the path and the candles on the bridge. They even surprised us with fireworks after the engagement and a homemade dessert.
The Suite is furnished in a modern way, yet it delightfully preserves old features of the house. The bathroom is equipped with a spacy shower, fluffy white towels and small toiletries. The king-size bed is absolutely perfect after a long day of driving to beautiful lochs and visiting castles. The kitchen and living room offer anything you need from dishwasher, kettle, wine glasses, dishes, tea cups, coffee machine to television, books and comfortable chairs. Wifi is provided free in the whole house. If you have any problems, questions or wishes, they will be attended to within a very short time from either of the two attentive hosts.
The grounds around Knockdow House are perfect for little walks through the countryside or to the sea. It is a very quiet setting which is perfect for a retreat from our busy everyday lives.

“Excellent property and location”
Reviewed November 24, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We throughly enjoyed our stay in the Bute suite of Knockdow House. A beautifully restored Manor House set in lovely gardens and close to Loch Striven. The thoughtful hosts have created lovely well equipped apartments whilst retaining many old features. The area is beautiful and the island of Bute is a must see location.
