my wife and i were very lucky to have got on this turkey & tinsel break in late November 2012
it was organised by GB TOURS Birkenhead we have traveled with them before and always had great value for money but, this holiday turned out the top of the list we have been doing coach holidays for 13 years now and have traveled all europe by coach not just GB but other firms to. The coach supplied by Lakeside of Ellesmere arrived on time and on boarding was suprised on the high standard of it plenty of room and very comfy seats. after a lovely relaxed journey to Dunoon we arrived at Esplade Hotel right on time. The Hotel had been closed for a week and heating had to be turned on but was soon up and running, the staff made us very welcome supplying freestanding heaters if you asked for one. Being disabled we were given a room on ground floor but other passengers on the coach complimented on the view from upper floors to the front of the hotel they looked out over the Clyde and the sea. dunoon town was just a short stroll along the esplanade and is all flat so easy for anyone infirmed.
On the day we arrived the dinner really set us back, we had choice of menu each with 5 courses soup of the day, main course that evening we had roast pork and all the trimmings, the followed a choice of sweet, cheese & biscuits tea or coffee. in fact there was that much food all served at the table and beautifully cooked no fat anywhere we were looked after by fantastic staff to Christine in Reception saw to every ones problems. while dining room was looked after by Stefen & Ingar.bar saw Pablo seeing to your requirements then last but not least Lucy who helped in reception and dining room. Beakfast was multi choice. Fuit juice,Cereal, full english breakfast. i think there Was near a pound of lovely bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes. toast tea/ coffee the lovely meals continued all week and it was lovely not to see a chip but all great food prepared and cooked by a chef who knew how to cook. The hotels decor was superb and rooms cleaned daily to very high standard, Entertainment was nightly and great assortment of acts throughout the week. bar prices very resonable priced & well kept. parking is right outside the door for car or coach all rooms have welcome tray with plenty of makings etc,. The only problem i had was a mixup over a phone call i made but all credit to the great manager and staff this was soon resolved no fault of hotel but mine Thanks to all .
I think this hotel is 2 * but should be more 3 0r 4* would be nearer the mark. On the return home i made another booking straight away for this year 2013. Overall this holiday was fantasic value for money and with nice easy coach ride bothways thanks to a great driver we had 2 stops going and 2 stops on return journey all helped . comfy hotel with friendly warm staff, fantastic food Honestly you wont get better anywhere Thanks Esplanade staff can i have same room this year please room 306 first on right as you enter Hotel thanks
