“Totally Fantastic!!!”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

We have been fortunate enough to dine at The Braes on a few occasions now when visiting friends in Dunoon and can honestly say the place is fantastic. Anyone else reading our review, please discard some of the other negative reviews you may read, you will have a lovely experience when visiting this restaurant. The newly refurbished decor, the friendly staff, delicious food and general atmosphere is simply first class and to top it off, it's also brilliant value for money. On our visit today our food was again so good we felt obliged to compliment the Chef, only to hear the main Chef was off today and it was another young 18 year old Chef who was doing the cooking, it was truly 10 out of 10 and we look forward to our next trip to Dunoon already.

“Lovely meal, will be back!”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

Went in for a late lunch with hubby and the kids (16 and 11). I had a beef burger with added cheddar cheese, asked for it well done and that's how it came. It was delicious and very fresh. The chips were lovely too and a good sized portion. My husband had the steak pie with mash and said the gravy was to die for! Very generous portion also. My eldest son had a steak sandwich from the specials board which consisted of juicy chunks of steak, onion and mushroom on a garlic ciabatta with salad and chips. He raved about it all afternoon! My youngest had a burger like me but from the kids menu, perfectly sized portion for him and at a great price too. The service was friendly and the place was warm, clean and inviting. We'll definitely return :)

“A test of our patience - we failed!”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Six of us went to meet up for a Christmas treat in the middle of December. The place was not busy and there were only two young serving staff members present. We waited forty minutes after ordering for our starters (five of which were cold dishes). Our plates were not cleared - we cleared the table ourselves then sat back to wait for our main courses. We had placed our order at about 8.20 pm and at 10 pm our main courses had still not appeared so we failed the patience test and decided to leave. Despite our numerous complaints about the length of time we had waited and the absence of food no goodwill gestutre was made and we were charged for everything we had had. Apparently the wait was our fault as "the kitchen did not know what we were going to order." Err.... Unfortunately, we will not return. I say unforunately as in the past we have had some good meals there, but it is too risky to try again, and a laissez faire attitude by the staff does not help.
