We stayed in Glendaruel a large sea facing room on the first floor. The room had an enormous bed and a comfortable sofa in the bay window - perfect for soaking up the wonderful view. The bathroom was large and bright with a powerul shower over the bath.

Christine and Colin were really welcoming and friendly and have made this traditional hotel very comfortable indeed. We had the cooked breakfast each morning which was delicious and we'd definitely stay here again.

We were really pleased to get some great photos of the red squirel in the garden!

Room Tip: You must choose a room with a sea view......wonderful

Thank you for coming to stay at the hotel and your kind comments. Our sea facing rooms do have a splendid view and we are pleased you enjoyed it. Thank you for your comments about our breakfasts which are freshly cooked to order and feature local produce. Come back again in the not too distant future.

We stayed for one night on Friday 19 April it was a spontaneous decision but we were so pleased with our choice. The hotel is on the outskirts of Dunoon in large quiet peaceful gardens overlooking the sea just a short walk from the peeble beach and town.

On arrival we were greeted at the door by Colin one of the owners a lovely personal touch and were shown to our room. We had originally booked a king size room overlooking the sea but were upgraded to the spectacular lamont room a large sea facing room with a four poster bed wonderful furnishings and a massive bathroom we were delighted.

We ate dinner in the small restaurant and were very pleased with what was on offer a thoroughly enjoyable meal and portion sizes that were just right. Christine the second owner and the staff were attentative friendly and chatty

Breakfast was terrific with a choice of hot and cold food we both opted for the Scottish breakfast which was tasty and generous.

We loved this hotel and found it an incredibly relaxing and peaceful experience the hotel was friendly and informal the room was first rate and the package offered excellent value for money, we have paid more for far less.

Now one of our favourite hotels we have stayed in and we will be back.

Room Tip: The sea facing rooms are lovely. We stayed in the four post la not room which was huge with a massiv...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast rate and found it very good value. Our dog was able to stay in our room f.o.c. and was spoiled with doggy biscuits put out specially for her. We were made very welcome by Colin and Christine and the meals offered in the restaurant were superb. We will definitely be returning ourselves and have told a lot of people about this gem.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more for a sea view room.

We loved that you called our hotel a "gem". That is so nice. We are pleased that you and your dog were happy and comfortable here. As you know the people get a welcome tray here and our visiting doggies do too. Its very kind that you have told people about us. We look forward to welcoming you back and any friends of yours too - and their dogs!

We spent Easter 2013 with Colin and Christine for a Baltic Easter break. The Lamont was a welcome luxury after days in the wild outdoors around and about in exceptional weather (cold). They are wonderful hosts and the hotel is extremely comfortable, the food excellent. All staff are courteous and helpful. Colin and Christine will go the extra mile, we were very late booking an evening meal - but they accommodated us and served an excellent meal for us. Thank you both for a truly lovely visit we will be back. OH! Must mention the views from the hotel which are spectacular.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view - gives good views and according to Christine's photos excellent orange a...

Just returned from a 2 x night midweek break (Itison deal) at Abbot's Brae. We had 4 x adults & 2 x children in our party. We stayed in the Ardentinny & Benmore rooms which were both sea facing. Both rooms had everything we needed for our stay & had superb views. We got a warm welcome from Colin when we arrived & throughout our stay he was an excellent host. We had dinner in the hotel on our first night & the meal & service were first class. We had breakfast both mornings & again the food was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed out break & it's clear that Colin & Christine really care about ensuring their guests enjoy every aspect of their stay. Our 9 year old & 3 year old girls were also warmly welcomed & there was a good selection of toys & games in the lounge, which kept them busy in between their outdoor activities. We would definitely recommend this hotel & look forward to visiting again in future.

Thanks to Colin and Christine for yet another memorable stay. The Lamont Room provided the necessary haven in which to relax in unabashed luxury. And the food is first class. Colin's savoury dishes and Christine's desserts made it a no brainer to eat in every night. The high quality never wavered.

What makes this hotel special is that the owners actually like people! They intuitively know when to enage in conversation and when to pull back to allow privacy. This is a real gift and the fact that they love their work shines through in every aspect of the customer experience.

Visit Abbots Brae and you won't want to go anywhere else.
