“Birthday Treat”

Arrived to be met by both Colin and Christine. Shown to our room complete with a sea view and made most welcome indeed. A pre dinner chat with other guests in the comfortable lounge prior to dining meant that dinner was a most enjoyable experience with chatter between various tables making humour and laughter the order for the meal. The staff are very attentative and nothing seems to be a problem. After dinner, coffee or whatever, in the lounge and before we knew it, it was midnight and, being a newcomer to the Senior Citizenship Club, it was time for bed. A most enjoyable experience staying here and well worth a try. Well done Colin and Christine and your staff.

Room Tip: Those who ask, get. Those that don't ask, don't get.

We stayed for 2 nights last weekend, starting on Friday, after a long and miserable drive in the rain. We arrived at the hotel to a wonderful warm welcome from Colin, who had come out to meet us on the steps - a lovely and unique way to arrive :-).
We were shown to our room - the Lamont room - it was breathtaking - the pictures on the web site truly do not do it justice - and the view the following morning was stunning.
We had drinks before dinner, in the warm and comfortable lounge, with an array of books to browse. These drinks came from Scotland's smallest bar - it may be small bit it was well stocked - first class G&Ts served :-)
Dinner both nights was wonderful, all home produced and ingredients locally sourced. The wine list was pleasingly varied and very reasonably priced. Coffee was taken afterwards in the lounge, with us both groaning in pleasure from such full stomachs.
And the breakfasts - where to begin? The best of Scottish fare, beautifully cooked to order so once again we were "fit to burst" - we both regret not being able to manage the whiskey/oatmeal option too! And the wildlife we watched as we ate was an unexpected and wonderful treat - red squirrels, jays and even roe deer in the grounds - spectacular.
i can't begin to describe what a fantastic find this hotel is - first class service, top quality accommodation and an experience to stay with us for a very long time. We'll certainly be back - if you want a relaxing, romantic and pampered break, this is the place for you :-)

Room Tip: the lamont room is exceptional but i am convinced that any room would be wonderful

Stayed for 2 nights recently and would certainly consider another trip. Chris was welcoming and very helpful. Our dog was well provided for with blanket , towel, bowl and treats . Food excellent and good selection of wines. Loved the views over the Clyde from the dining room despite the inclement weather.

We have just returned from a three night stay at this wonderful little hotel and we cannot praise it highly enough! It has a fairy tale setting overlooking Loch Long and the views are simply stunning. Christine and Colin treated us like family...nothing was too much trouble. They know the local area well and were able to help us make the most of our visit. Our room was on the second floor at the front (Ardentinny) and it was fantastic to open the curtains to such beautiful scenery every morning. It was warm, clean and comfortable.
The food was really delicious and beautifully presented. Home cooking and fresh local produce. We ate in the hotel two out of three nights and there was plenty of choice. The breakfast was excellent and the dining room also affords views of the Loch so it is a delightful and romantic place to eat. We would certainly return if we are in the area again.

Colin and Christine were very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure the weekend was just what we wanted. They were helpful and warm without being overbearing. The food was lovely and the house had a cozy, homely feel. Very impressed by welcoming of dogs. Sweeties on the pillows was a lovely touch! x

Fourteen of us (seven couples) booked Abbots Brae for an annual old school friends reunion, our first in Scotland. From the beginning we were made very welcome by Christine, Colin and their very friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and our breakfasts and evening meals were outstanding, in quantity, quality and value. The wines we chose to accompany our dinners were excellent, and we enjoyed sampling the hotel's single malt collection. Our hosts helped us plan our daytime outings, and quickly found for us on the internet any information we needed. Our weekend was over all too quickly and we left having had the pleasurable experience of being very well cared for in a very comfortable hotel - in fact, thoroughly pampered !

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet and comfortable. Sea views across the Clyde estuary to the front, garden views t...

Firstly I would like to say, the drive into the grounds of this property is wonderful! With twists and turns before opening out into a lush garden with a glimpse of a sweet retreat on top of the hill.

The welcome on arrival is nothing short of a home away from home, it was our first stay, yet we were made to feel like returning guests.

The room *booked last minute* was basic but perfectly clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits etc, and the bathroom was spacious with a good strong shower and plenty of hot water.

We used this as a base for two evenings, while out exploring the lochs and countryside up as far as Oban during the days.

The breakfast was first rate!! I can be so fussy with a full Scottish breakfast, but there was nothing to 'humm n haw' about, it was just right!!

If you fancy a break without any fuss or bother this is a great place to do it!

Room Tip: we had the Lachlan room *facing the gardens to the rear* Beautiful picturesque view (but a wrought I...
