“Well worth and informative”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

Oliver, a very knowledgeable and friendly guide will tell you about almost anything you can find on the beach. Its very interesting if you are into fossils and earth before humans.

Its great for couples as me n mrs enjoyed the walk along the bay n collecting shells and stones.
Seemed like good place for kids too. Not that we had any with us but can sew it a fun activity for them.

Couple for £ 10, not bad at all.

Perhaps the museum will be open soon too. Expedition and museum together will be good.

“Perfect for adults too!”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

I booked our dinosaur expedition via the internet, it was easy to do and a couple of emails later I had the date, time and location sorted. There was no money paid at booking, as the trips are weather dependent, they take a mobile number for any such eventualities. The price of £12.50 for a family of four for 2 hours experience was very good value - all week the children were looking forward to it!
The day itself was windy and showery; we were dreading a phone call...but Andrew turned up at the allotted time and in wellies and waterproofs, he checked the conditions on the beach. Another family of two joined us. Andrew was extremely safety conscious; all trips are on the outgoing tide - our original beach was considered less safe due to the winds keeping the tide high so we moved to another location ½ mile up the road.
Andrew was very keen and started our expedition with an explanation of the coastline and examples of what we may find and how they are formed. He was keen to train our eyes to notice different things on the beach and was extremely patient, as we worked our way along the coast, to explain each person’s latest discovery. This personal touch made finding and appreciating 125m year old fossils very exciting – I think the children had a great time too!
The trip lasted over the 2 hours and we all reached our car wind-blown, tired and exhilarated; a perfect end to our 5-day trip to the Isle of Wight. This expedition was a definite highlight.

“A good time had by all!”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Andrew our private guide for the afternoon was brilliant. We were a party of 3 adults 1 child and a dog and he managed to keep all of us interested for over 2 hours.
We found some very interesting bits and pieces and Charlie found it fascinating as did the adults.
Great value for money and I advise a private tour as its much more personal and you will learn a lot more!
See you next year!

“Private Dinosaur Fossil Hunt”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

We took a private fossil hunt with Dinosaur Expeditions Cooperative and had a fantastic time, there were four adults who ended up scouring the beach like children. The guide was very knowledgeable and explained any rock brought to him and where it had come from. We found lots of sponge fossils, fossils of shells, fossilised wood and even a piece of dinosaur bone. It was a true highlight of our holiday on the Isle of Wight and will definitely be booking another tour when we return to the island.

“Great family fun!”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

A well run fossil hunting trip. The intro in the car park was short and kept the kids interested, but had enough detail for grown ups and showed enough examples so you stood a chance of finding things when you got to the beach. The guide was very patient with all and extremely helpful, even when he was confronted by his 100th bit of rock! The trip also included a visit to the dinosaur footprints. The kids loved it and we now have a small fossil collection. A brilliant 2 hours and very cheap at £12.50 for a family of four.
