Came across this by accident. Being off season the restaurant was very quiet. The owner chef was exceptionally hospitable and helped recommending a dish. Although not Mexican himself, the food was authentic and extremely tasty.
Nice food - nice atmosphere - reasonable prices. Good find!
Will definitely go back there

“For Young people”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

Conchitas has a nice menu which we have enjoyed on a takeaway basis.

We wouldn't eat there because its noisy in terms of the clientele and loud music. A younger person may well think it has a lively vibe, but its not for people who want to have a conversation with their dining companion.

“Great Cheap and cheerful mexican”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

I have had both the take away and eaten in the restaurant, both are to be recommended. I always enjoy the food. It's what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant i.e. probably more British than real Mexican. The service is good, though if it's busy, it can be a little slow. I always enjoy going to the restaurant and love the décor and music.

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

Mexican food can be samey and unimaginative. This was very tasty, I really enjoyed every bit from the olives on the table to my veggie main course. As did the rest of my family. I recommend conchita's. It was just very quiet on a Monday night.

“Great food, great service, great steak...”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Went here for the first time last night (10th August 2013) and were very impressed. We had booked a table for two and were greeted by a friendly waitress as soon as we entered and given a choice of tables. The waiting staff managed to find that "fine line" of being attentive whilst in the background and seemed to have the knack of attending just at the right time.

Starting with a drink, the prices are certainly in line with the local area and in fact cheaper than some of the "designer pubs" in Folkestone (which is an oxymoron in itself!).

The starter size was good with a wide choice on the menu and (echoing previous comments) not too spicy but very flavoursome. The main was just terrific, good portion size and freshly cooked. Me and the boss both had steak and thankfully we have managed to find a restaurant who are able to cook a steak as it's asked for as opposed to the usual "will it - won't it" lottery.

One thing I also noticed which impressed me very much was that once a table had been vacated, the waitress would hold the door open for the leaving customer, thank them as they left and then fully clean their table - not just give it a quick wipe but use an antibacterial (I assume) spray.

One down side (and this really is a little and "quite pathetic" moan), no steak knives were given which would have made it slightly better - that's not to say that the steak was tough, it wasn't, it was just a little difficult to cut cleanly.

In closing, me and the boss will certainly be returning - probably soon!
