“Great party”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

We booked the Burlington Hotel for my 70th Birthday party because it is very close to the excellent children's playground on the Lees Cliff, Folkestone and we have 11 grandchildren. Our lunch party was a lovely occasion. The staff, particularly Nicola, the Events Manager made every effort to accommodate our wishes. The food, a served buffet, was generous and delicious and our guests were very complimentary about the arrangements and ambience of a traditional hotel. The children were welcomed and not just tolerated as in some hotels. The family spent the night at the Burlington and again they were very flexible and accommodating in working out room arrangements for the families and we were all comfortable.

We booked this as a last minute deal on a Thursday evening. I called the hotel to check availability. I rang them later with a voucher code etc. The very efficient and courteous receptionist called me on my mobile at approx 9pm to ask further details. We arrived at the hotel to find that we had been provided with a very nice sea view room. It had been refurbished and was clean and comfortable. The staff throughout our two night stay were polite and friendly.
Our inclusive first evening meal was beautiful. Compliments to the chef !! . As previously commented upon our room was hot. Guess what? I turned the thermostatic rad valve to half setting and it became a comfortable temperature. Breakfast next morning was a buffet style. It was nice on both mornings. The only observation I would have and not a criticism is that the food was tepid. Perhaps the buffet trolley needed turning up a bit. Bar prices very good and hotel in a great location for Folkestone or walking along towards Hythe.
I've just rebooked for another couple of friends to join us for a repeat visit after Christmas.
Well done to all at the Burlington and can only imagine it getting better as they continue with the refurbishment.

An execellent choice of hotel in Folkestone. A warm welcome on arrival. Room was very comfortable and jacuzzi bath was an added bonus. Staff were very attentive throughout the stay. Good selection for breakfast.
Will make this our base whenever in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for room 110!

Booked this as part of a great deal with amazon local and am a bit reticent to share in case they put the price up!!
Arrived Thurs am with our dog, nice welcome from reception, dog bed and bowl in room. Room a little small but nipping clean, plentiful pillows, bed a little creaky but we slept well.
Dinner which was included in our deal was great, we both had scallops to start, cooked to perfection, sweet and everything you wanted them to be -before I forget, they were so dog friendly they set us a table in the bar, adjacent to the restaurant so that we could have our dog with us.
Mains excellent, pheasant wrapped in bacon was superb, not farmed and the 4o day matured sirloin steak (supplement if I remember was £4) with a local blue cheese sauce was amazing and such a generous size I had to have a doggy bag! Chips were devine at least double cooked SPOT ON . Service excellent, professional and friendly.
Breakfast yes yes yes- perfectly poached free range eggs, smashing bacon best breakfast I've had in ages . Michael had kipper with poached eggs and said was great although i could not face that first thing in the morning.Saturday mornng buffet breakfast not nearly as good but obviously spoilt from day before and if had that first would say good and plentiful/ Charming sevice , nothing too much trouble and truly dog friendly. I was treated to this as a November birthday present from my father and when we came home(we only live 3 miles away) he asked if we would like the break for our christmas presenr-I was on to Amazon local again within minutes/ We take the coast for grannted as we we live locally but the walks along the Leas are sensational, this is the lovely part of Folkestone we had a great time and the dog was thouroughly spoilt. I will have this for a present any time please do not put the prices up!!! Also check The Meze House review Folkestone is getting better/ Thanks to all at the Burlingtom
Slight issue with the heating only minor flaw
LOVED IT

Got a very good-priced deal to stay for two nights at the Burlington and can find nothing to moan about at all really. Our deal included breakfasts on both days and and evening meal on one, all were tasty and with plenty of choice.
The staff were without exception courteous and friendly and the hotel's location was handy for the town and beach alike.
Our room had been recently refurbished apparently and was certainly done to a very high standard, we read reviews before committing and people had complained the rooms were too hot - so open a window!
The bed was large and comfortable with good support, though the pillows were a little on the hard side to be frank.
Our stay in mid-November found the town a little quiet and you could struggle to find things to do, but because the weather was unseasonably good we managed to occupy ourselves okay.
If you decide to eat out, there's plenty of choice in town or drive to nearby Sandgate one side or Dover the other.
You should also try to visit the Weatherspoons in Folkestone. It is in a magnificent old church which has been tastefully transformed and is probably the grandest pub in Britain.
Our judgement was obviously influenced by the price we paid, but I think you would find it hard to fault the place in all honesty.

Very professional staff attitude throughout the hotel. The room service was punctual and very tasty as was the evening meal, a must try when staying here. With such good pricing it would be a shame not to. Our room a superior double had all that we needed, it was very clean and warm, thankfully as the weather was very poor. The expansive beach was a very short stroll across the quiet road and the town a mere ten minute walk away. Perfectly located for the lees cliff hall venue. All in all a very nice two days was spent surrounded by the Victorian splendour of this part of Folkestone. I would enquire as to whether there was a function being held there before I book and would definitely spend the extra for an upgraded room.

We visited on a two night Amazon local deal, we got a free room upgrade to a room with a whirlpool bath, great. The breakfast menu and food was varied and well cooked. We really enjoyed the dinner too. A good location for a short break in Folkestone.
