“A picturesque and peaceful site”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

We visited this site on the first day it opened for the season and were greeted by the very helpful managers ,who helped us choose the best place to pitch our tent. We eventually decided on a peaceful, seluded spot overlooking the beach with beautiful views of the sea.
This site is a perfect base to explore the surrounding area and is great for walking.
The shower block was immaculate and we never had to queue to use the facilities ( although the site was quiet being the start of the season).
The only downside to this site is the extremely and rugged rough road which led to it:: full of pot holes and very narrow in places: the site managers informed us that they are working hard with the local council to hopefully resolve this issue in the future.

We liked the atmosphere in Folkstone and also enjoyed visiting Dover. There are still some things we want to do in the area so will be planning a future visit.
Many thanks to the site managers for a very enjoyable few days.

Beautiful well maintained site situated in a perfect position on the edge of the sea. Quiet and peaceful when we were there although likely to be quite different in the height of the season. It is ideally located for walking along the many footpaths and also into Folkestone along the seafront. The site managers are most welcoming and friendly. The showers and toilets are very clean. Will most definitely be returning next year.

What a lovely place - clean, well maintained, helpful owners, beautiful setting. We were shown to a sheltered spot for out tent and told it was the best spot - which indeed it was - right on the cliff with a view of the sea and a nice hedge acting as a natural wind breaker.

Toilets/washing areas spotlessly clean. Onsite shop well stocked and not overpriced. We ordered the Sunday papers and picked them up Sunday morning.

Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Room Tip: 'Check-in' is at midday - get there early!

Very helpful staff and super clean site and toilet cleaning facilities. We had no. 59 camping bay which could look over to the sea and could hear the sea/beach noise all day....just wonderful!
When it came to the weekend it got very busy with lots of families but still a good atmosphere.

Good points. The site is clean. The staff are helpful. The showers and toilets are very clean.
Bad points. Expensive. Very busy. Tents and motorhomes were crammed in at every bit of available space. The location of the site so close to the channel tunnel means many people arriving to stop over before their crossing. A tent was in a marked pitch opposite us, but late at night they squeezed in VW camper as the tent hadn't used up all the pitch. It seems as if they never turn people away if there is a small space they can squeeze them in. This isn't good seeing as this is a very expensive site. The six meter rule doesn't apply here. This means loads of people in a small campsite, and that means it isn't a quiet peaceful site. If you want peace and quiet, then don't go here.

Stayed 23-25th July 2010. Overpriced. Very busy during Summer weekends and not sure the pitches be squeezed together any closer, reminded us of an asylum camp or perhaps festival. No real room for kids to play in the freedom they should enjoy from the camping experience other than road. Despite the relative early peace of the site, our Saturday night was a noisy experience. Many travelling campers seem to hover on the periphery of the site (no doubt taking advantage of camp facilities!) playing loud dance music until the very earlier hours which carried across the lower cliffs. Beach not great, poor signage to the site and poorer track that Sat Nav gave up on years ago. Folkstone - grim. On the positive side, clean (award winning) toilet and shower facilities, the shop was well stocked (and sold the tiniest packs of ice known to man!) Folks running the site were very nice and clear rubbish at very regular intervals. Of the many habitual campers visit this site it would seem who may be better served exploring more spacious sites of Kent.
