Me and my family stayed here as a stop over before getting an early morning Ferry from Dover. The hotel is very close to the channel tunnel terminal and just 20 minutes from Dover port. The rooms were typical of HI express and they were clean and comfortable. We were leaving before breakfast but the hotel provided us with an early check out breakfast in a bag. In summary a good value hotel conveniently located.

Every member of staff in this hotel were super helpful and kind to us. Check in was easy and I had a toddler asleep in my arms!!!
Food was great in the bar and the bar staff very helpful too.
No problem on checkout and again very lovely staff.
Bed was a bit hard, but the room was clean, warm and quiet. Would highly recommend.

The reception staff, particularly in the evening, were very welcoming & helpful. A note was made of our expected departure time, and we were told we would have a packaged breakfast to take with us. We were asked if we wanted to eat at the hotel, and when we said we were unsure of what we wanted to do, we were offered take-away menus from firms that would deliver to the hotel. We didn't take them up on the offer (although the Chinese takeaway sounded particularly tempting), as we were not really hungry enough, so we took a short walk to the nearby Tesco store for a few "picnic" items. If we had arrived early enough we might have made use of the Tesco cafe, but that closed at 6pm. Our room was on the first floor, and was a good size - double bed, desk, chair, sofa and a nice sized shower room with lovely blue lights in addition to the main lighting (very useful to leave on as a "nightlight"). The bathroom door had a dual role - it could be used as the main bathroom door, or just as a door to the wc. The "wardrobe" area was equipped with tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer and several shelves. On the desk there was a TV, a desk light (the one in our room was damaged, with an attempted repair using tape - not a real problem though), and plenty of mains sockets - very useful! Other reviews I have seen complained about the size of the quilt on the bed - we didn't find any problem with it. The room seemed well soundproofed. We had worried a little as there was the sound of a barking dog as we got out of the lift, but we couldn't hear it once we were in our room. Our packed breakfast consisted of two apples, two individual cartons of orange juice, two croissants and a plastic knife - not sure why the knife was there - maybe there was meant to be some jam to go with the croissants? The location really couldn't have been better for the Eurotunnel.

This hotel is very near to the tunnel and we got a good deal but it is very basic and lacking in atmosphere. All staff were excellent and very helpful to us and to other customers.
We found our room to be cold and it wasn't that cold outside. The bathroom was very chilly and we couldn't see any visible source of heating. Might be underfloor but if so not on. The shower was pitiful.
Breakfast was OK and it is possible to have a takeaway if leaving earlier.
We had dinner here which was a big mistake- it was over priced and probably the worst meal we have had in years.

Booked in advance and got a great room rate. Abby and Chris were very helpful. Menu needs updating but chef was prepared to supply special soup. Very quiet considering how close the motorway is and how many children were staying. Recommended.

This is a modern, clean Holiday Inn that I doubt any one has spent 2 consecutive nights in because it's only purpose is a stopover for the Tunnel. What makes it worthy of review is the staff. They were all very friendly and simply could not do enough for everyone. High commended.

So I reviewed in October . I have stayed twice since, generally very happy.

In October I said "Breakfast mixed good drinks and breads poor hot food nice sausages lukewarm cheap beans and some appalling dried yellow stuff masquerading as scrambled eggs.

I note the manager/rep in response to previous guests saying he is sorry to hear they didn’t like the breakfast but not enough to change anything by the looks of it. Breakfast is included rather than free so they should improve it"

The reply was

“We apologize we were not able to exceed your expectations during your stay. Please be assured that these will be looked into so our team can take actions accordingly.”

Just to say that the egg is still the same the beans were hot. These are the worst eggs I have ever been offered.

Room fine on both occasions. Not a big improvement to make better eggs.

Btw breakfast is not free it is included surely!! If they didn't provide it the room would be cheaper in any event whatever it costs it shouldnt have an inedible bit....
