“Convenient, clean, friendly staff”
Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here prior to using the euro tunnel which is only 5-10 mins away. Rooms clean and comfy - bathrooms a little small. Nice food (would recommend the pie and mash) and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again when using the tunnel.

The only real problem we had was that the mattress needed replacing, it was hard yet sagging in the middle, so we were lying at an angle which gave us both bad backache. Also there was a rumbling noise from something (maybe some kind of generator) that went on all night, maybe if we had slept we may not have noticed. (room 310).

The breakfast was edible, cereal, toast, rolls etc, they also served hot beans, sausages and scrambled eggs, we didn't try these so could not comment.

The staff at check in and out were very pleasant, none of the above would stop us staying there again (this was our third stay) just maybe ask for a different room. It is so convenient for the tunnel only 10 minutes at the most away.

After having to leave a terrible hotel late at night, we literally booked a room out of desperation. We hadn't read any reviews or anything.

This was a pleasant hotel. Compared to the hotel we had left this was like a 5* experience. It was obviously one of the chain, however I found it to be very pleasant. The gentleman on reception was accommodating and explained how the hotel we had left had the amount of stars it did.

The room was a decent size. The view was of the car park. Breakfast was decent and plentiful. I have no complaints. I would happily stay in a holiday Inn Express again.

Having read some of the previous less than positive reviews, I nevertheless booked this hotel because it was conveniently located for the tunnel, not
necessarily expecting a particularly positive experience. We were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. We were running late due to tunnel delays and arrived after midnight to be very warmly treated by the reception staff (a Welsh fella whose name I didn't get). Check in was swift and easy and we were soon tucked up in bed. Nice clean room and bathroom, tea and coffee in the room. Just the job. Down to breakfast which was perfectly adequate, scrambled eggs, sausage and beans for the hot choice, cereal, toast, yogurt, croissants, pastries and fruit, washed down with coffee and juice. And free newspapers as well. Check out was similarly pleasant, lovely staff, very helpful. Okay, it isn't the Hyatt, but for an overnight stop to of from the continent, it was difficult to fault.

We booked to stay here like most people on route to France. The hotel is situated close to the Eurotunnel and we found check in very easy with Carlos and Matt who were both helpful.
Our room was on the 3rd floor and overlooked the M20 which was noisy, this did not disturb our nights sleep but for some the constant traffic noise could be a problem. The room itself was clean and spacious and the shower was nice although the water could have been hotter.
As with a review below, the light fitting above the bed kept making a cracking noise every so often after being turned off but after tapping it it stopped. Perhaps we had the same room?
Our breakfast was included, small selection of pastries, cereal and some cooked items, ideal for a quick breakfast before catching the train.
Wifi is free but again with a review below it is frustrating with the logging on process and having to register with Bitbuzz. It only allows one device in the room to be connected to it but you only find this out once you've gone through the whole registering an account process.
Reception gave us a list of local restaurants to eat at, the dinner in the hotel we thought was overpriced and there was not much choice. We went to The Fountain pub at Hythe, 10 minutes drive and the food was really good.
We would stay here again.

Staff very helpful and friendly, which made us grade the overall rating higher than we would normally have done. Free breakfast also very good. Bed small compared to a Travelodge bed and the bedroom fan heater extremely noisy. Loo seat loose. Would not have paid the full rate for the room of £99 but the deal we got at £42 was very good value.

As with nearly everyone else here, we stayed for one night en route to the ferry.

When we arrived in the evening there were still plenty of places in the car park. Checking in was hassle-free, the receptionist was friendly and efficient.

The room was modern and very clean and the temperature was fine. The bed was comfortable and there was a good selection of pillows. The bathroom was small but perfectly adequate, and the shower pressure was fine.

One thing that disturbed my sleep was the light fitting over the bed. Something to do with the way it was installed meant that after switching it off, the surrounding emitted a cracking noise every few minutes until it completely cooled (which took a while).

Connecting to the wifi was annoying. Despite plastering stickers all over the place boasting about their free wifi, we were given a long code suitable for just one device. Once you've entered this, you then have to register. The whole process is a pain, especially on a tablet, and seems unnecessary.

Breakfast was adequate. If we were paying extra we would've felt slightly cheated, but included at this price it seemed OK. There was no bacon, the sausages were fine, the pastry products were a bit dry. As others have noted the small serving room means that there is a constant queue even when it's not particularly busy, it took me a while before I could go back for coffee.
