My boyfriend and I booked this gorgeous mansion house in Huddersfield for my 40th birthday celebrations. Charlotte made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish to make our weekend perfect.
On arrival we were blown away by the house, its Georgian architecture and the the pink sandstone make this property outstanding. The location was perfect as some of the family arrived on the train from London and the taxi journey was only 3 minutes.
My boyfriend and I and some of the other family came by car and its 2 minutes from the M62, the property is easy to find.
We parked our cars behind the electric gates, there is easily enough space for 3 cars.
We were greeted by friendly Charlotte who handed over the keys and gave us a glass of champagne whilst she showed us around the house and gave us a house manual.
We had selected to have our fridge filled with an evening meal and a cooked breakfast which was a little added extra but worth the money as it meant we did not have to leave the house on the first evening and the following morning.
The 6 bedrooms were all individually and beautifully decorated, 4 en suite and a loft bedroom with a lovely roof terrace. Also a pretty garden room which the children quickly claimed as their own.
This house is massive, impressive and the perfect location for a grand celebration. It has 4 reception rooms so it feels spacious and palatial. On the first evening my boyfriend rustled up a dinner for 20 which we ate in the magnificent raspberry coloured dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with every gadget you could desire and we were delighted to find out from Charlotte that Nadia, the Bake Off winner recently did a Hello photo shoot in Norfolk House kitchen.
We then retired to the white room lounge where we chilled on the huge white leather sofas. The children enjoyed the drawing room with PS4 but more interestingly they loved the selection of board games available, Othello was a particular favourite.
The weather was fantastic during our stay so for Saturday lunch we had a barbecue in the garden while the children visited the magnificent Greenhead Park which is only a street away. They paddled in the splash pool and played tennis.
On Saturday night Charlotte had recommended and booked a local restaurant called Eric's which was out of this world and only 5 mins by taxi. The restaurant has won a lot of awards and Eric even came to say hi and check we had enjoyed our food. We decided to make use of Charlotte's recommended baby sitter and Fiona arrived and looked after the children for the evening.
Sunday was a sightseeing day of the local area. First stop was the picturesque village of Haworth (20 mins away) Bronte country and a visit to the parsonage where the girls grew up. We were all delighted with a visit to the beautiful Rose & Co Apothecary which was like stepping back in time with vintage cosmetics, we all bought a few bath bombs. We had lunch i the delightful Cook Shop. We didn't have time but next time we would have loved to do the Bronte guided walking tour. In the afternoon we visited Holmfirth, the Last of the Summer Wine country. We jumped on the vintage bus tour and were taken to many locations featured in the TV series.
Dinner that evening was at the wonderful Holmfirth Vineyard with spectacular views and delicious food and wine. They also do wine tasting tours and there was a tractor and mini diggers in a sandpit for the kids enjoyment.
We checked out on the Monday morning and it could not have been more simple. Charlotte was sweet enough to allow us a free late check out. The £1000 security deposit was refunded in full even though we have broken 2 glasses.
