I have stayed at the Elm Crest regularly over the past year and the owners Sue and Chas always guarantee a warm welcome. The fact that they have so many regular and return visitors is testament to their friendly attitude and and the effort they make to ensure all their guests are well looked after. The house itself is a lovely old Victorian building with real character. I have stayed in a number of different rooms, which vary from small singles to very generous doubles. All the rooms have an en suite, tea and coffee facilities and a freeview TV. They are always very clean and well presented. The price list reflects the range of rooms available, but all are excellent value for money. There is free wifi throughout the property. Sue cooks an excellent English breakfast, freshly to order. There is a plenty of (free) parking, and it is very convenient for the M62 or about a 15 minute walk to the town centre/railway station.

If you are planning to stay in Huddersfield for business or pleasure this is quite simply your best option.

We received a very friendly welcome. Our double room was very clean, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfasts were more than adequate. There was lots of room in the large and secure car-park. It took us approximately 20 minutes to walk into the town centre of Huddersfield. This did not present us with any problems as the weather was dry throughout our stay, but anyone staying in wet weather might find the distance to pubs and restaurants a bit disconcerting.

Very quiet location just to the North of Huddersfield. Parking is was no problem. Booked this guest house because I was starting to get a bit bored of Premier inn/Holiday inn/Travelodge type accommodation having stayed in several per week.

Only issue was the size of the room which was extremely small. Usually this isn't a big problem because I get in late, watch a bit of telly then sleep. Unfortunately on this occasion I had a fair amount of work to do and I struggled in such a confined space with no desk, perching my laptop on my suitcase while sitting on the bed. Needless to say there was some backache the next morning. I suppose the answer would be pay more and get a double room.

Room was clean. Decor perhaps a little tired. Small but functional Mira shower did the job. Toilet is one of those electronic ones that sounds like a pneumatic drill as it flushes. My neighbour seemed to use his all through the night! Nice selection of teas and coffee provided in the room.

Owners are very accommodating and will go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Service is very personal, which you wouldn't get in a chain hotel. Breakfast was lovely and a big choice is available.

Good quiet location, handy for M62. Excellent breakfast. Nice people. This is a guest house B&B and not really a hotel. I can only speak for the room in which I stayed in. Single bed in a room space 8 X 9 feet. This included the bathroom which smelt of the previous occupants ablutions and pervaded the whole room as there was no door to the bathroom! (net curtain) The room fittings were very tired. The bathroom was early eighties, worn and cramped with mildew stains in the shower. One side of the bed was against the wall and a space of only15" on the other side. No chair to sit on as there was no room for one. Very claustraphobic. Before I went to the room I was told they were full so I saw little point in complaining as they could not do a room change. I assume the other rooms are better than than that. I suggest you enquire if you are after a single room to evade being in this tiny boxroom. If you are on a limited budget you may be prepared to put up with these limitations? The room deserves two stars. The communal area was good, hence three stars.

Room Tip: Make sure you do not book this single room. Ask if the bathroom has a door.

This is by far the nicest B & B that I've stayed in in Huddersfield. Highly Recommended. Charming house, really lovely hosts, lovely room ( loads of character), everything spotless and being a vegetarian I even got veggie sausages for the morning! God is in the details and our hosts pay attention to them.A very cosy stay. Will be back..
