We chanced upon this little bus waiting by Sid's Cafe and on the spur of the moment decided to hop aboard. We were with friends who although having visited family in Huddersfield on many occasions had never been to Holmfirth.
There is a recorded guide interspersed with commentary from the driver. The tour takes around 45 minutes and takes you through the valley and the sights where the series Last of the Summerwine was filmed. You see the camera tricks used and travel on the roads where the many escapades of the main characters took place. You also learn a little of the local history and the number of floods which have swept through this peaceful little area.
We all enjoyed it very much, travelling in the footsteps of Compo and Co.

If you want to find out about the locations of Last of the summer wine or some of the history of Holmfirth or even if you just want to see some of the beautiful scenery around the area then this tour is for you. Colin who runs the tour used to have Sids Cafe and is very knoledgable. The tour starts outside Sids Cafe from about 11.00am throughout the day and lasts for about 45 minutes. It costs £8 and visits places in Holmfirth itself like Compo's home to other locations around the area further afield like The White Horse (pub in series and where Howard, Pearl and Normans homethe birth place of Roy Castle.

This trip runs from the centre of Holmfirth and is a MUST for any Summerwine fan or even if you just want to see the beautiful scenery around Holmes valley. You would expect most of the sites from the programme to be in Holmfirth, but only a couple are. Yes,the iconic Nora Barry's steps and Sids cafe are, but many other places such as Cleggys house are scattered around the small villages that would be hard to find without an official guide.
The driver Colin, is a local man with a lot of local knowledge. Not only did I find out where many of the T.V. locations are but lots of history and interesting facts about the little Yorkshire town.
I bet it`s even more beautiful in the summer months as the views are outstanding.
I would definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Holmfirth

This little tour not only takes in the filming sights of Last of the SummerWine but lots of local history as well, such as the floods and Bamforth postcards. The driver Colin used to own Sids Cafe so has been involved in the filming for many years. He is a typical yorkshireman but with a sense of humour. If you really want to see Holmfirth go on this tour.
