We have been to the Ainley Top Toby Carvery on loads of occasions over the years and it has usually been of a reasonable standard. On the latest occasion that we went it was quite good as we caught it just right where all the bowls of veg etc has just been replaced so everything was hot and fresh (sometimes there is not much left in the bowls and what is there is cold). Unfortunately, the Yorkshire Puds let the whole meal down. Toby Carvery is renowned for its large delicious homemade Yorkshire Puds. On this occasion the Yorkshire Puds were very small (although they did give you 2 to compensate for this fact) but, unfortunately, they were so over-cooked that they disintegrated into a pile of broken dry crumbs when you cut into them. They were even worse than the frozen ready made ones you buy and heat up in the oven for 4 minutes. It is like the saying goes 'You get what you pay for'. At £5.99 for the mid-week carvery its not bad but I wouldn't like to pay the Sunday Lunch prices if they were serving terrible Yorkshire Puds up then. For the price of a fresh batch of batter they should have chucked them away and made some fresh ones. I did notice that we were not the only customers leaving the Yorkshire Puds so we were not the only ones who found them horrible. Having said that they did have a choice of 4 meats and they all looked delicious. They only used to serve a choice of 4 meats on Sunday's only and 3 meats on a mid-week day. Just get the Yorkshire Puds back to how they used to be please. After all we are in Yorkshire!!!
