“Lovely wedding venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 4, 2014 via mobile

We came up for a uni friend's wedding at the end of March. The venue is easy to find with ample parking and is clearly signposted. The wedding was lovely and we felt very welcomed by the team. Mandy the manager is lovely and I could see it meant a lot to her that the day was special. All staff were very helpful and made sure we were well looked after.

Good place for a family wedding with beautiful views of the Pennines. I'll start with the positives. Food & who ever is responsible for cooking it EXCELLENT! The breakfast, evening meals & most of all the wedding food 10/10 for kitchen staff. Service of most of the staff very good. Rooms not just mine but my daughters too. Positively dusty! Attention to the skirting boards & edges of the carpets needs attending to promptly. Perhaps it's down to time given to staff to clean per room. However, also the noise from maybe a air-con unit or hotel boiler? Room 19 which was of annoyance when trying to get to sleep. Luckily, I always carry ear plugs. Plus side bed very comfortable with lovely pillows however, two single beds pushed together in the room recess was a tight squeeze. Get on top of the cleaning around the hotel & it could be a great place to visit the charming Huddersfield.

Dear Sandra H

Many thanks for your recent review on Tripadvisor. We are pleased to hear that the food and service were of a very good standard and we have passed this feedback to the team at the Pennine Manor Hotel. Regarding the standard of cleaning, this is totally unsatisfactory and far below our standards, we have increased the number of room inspections carried out to ensure we keep a very close eye on standards. Regarding the noise issue this is from the boiler which is located near room 17. Unfortunately we are unable to re-locate the boiler, but we have requested our maintenance team to look at ways to reduce this and this is a work in progress. We thank you for bringing all these issues to our attention and we do hope to see you again in the near future.

Our Grand-Daughter just recently had her Wedding Breakfast & Evening Reception, many members of the family stayed prior to & on the Wedding night. We all felt extremely welcome by friendly staff who were always helpful. The food was excellent overall with good variety to suit all tastes. If there is a downside for people staying in the rooms, we found the windows were drafty so building maintenance could be improved. Apart from this we had a very enjoyable stay and this was our 5th stay here, we will not hesitate in using the hotel again in the future when visiting family. The actual overall Wedding experience for Bride/Groom & guests, as managed by Mandy, was faultless!

Room Tip: Rooms on the second floor at the rear of the building overlooking the dales are spectacular.

We stayed at the Pennine Manor for one night (as we were going to the Marsden Imbolc Fire Festival). I found the whole experience quite disappointing!! We arrived at approx 2.15pm. Our room was really cold. I rang reception to ask for the heating in our room, I was told to give it 15-20 mins and the room should warm up. as we had pre-booked our room I would have expected especially in winter that the room would have been heated for our arrival. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly. There was pubic hair on the floor in the bathroom (disgusting), the blind was mouldy, and everytime I lifted the toilet lid the toilet seat also came up with it. We had breakfast included with our stay. I felt breakfast was poor. It was very "full english inspired" which is not at all to my taste as I am a health conscious vegetarian. If you want a bog standard hotel experience for a more expensive price then the Pennine Manor will be for you. Personally I have had a more postive experience at a Hotel Ibis or Travelodge. It's a shame as Pennine Manor is in such a stunning location.

Dear gallavanta

We are very sorry to hear that you found your recent stay at the Pennine Manor Hotel disappointing. It would seem that there was an issue with the heating in your room which is being addressed by the maintenance team, however, as soon as we became aware we should have provided an extra heater, but we do agree your room should have been at the required temperature on your arrival and we apologise for this.

There are numerous options on the breakfast menu including porridge, cereals, pastries, fresh fruits and fruit yoghurts as well as vegetarian sausages.

As regards the standard of the cleaning of rooms we have taken this up with the Head of Housekeeping at the Pennine and the cleaner in question has received extra training in the standards expected and required. We do apologise that your stay didnt live up to your expectations and we thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.

Just returned from Pennine Manor along with husband and parents, just must say the whole experience was superb. Food of high standard and well presented. Bar most welcoming with good choice of beers and wines.
Forgot to mention dietary requirements for my Father when booking, but staff came up with great alternative.
Value for money second to none. Incidentally this was our third visit in as many months. There will definitely be a fourth.

We had our wedding here in October 2013 and it was the most wonderful day we could have imagined. The staff were brilliant, food was excellent and the facilities were perfect. It was our dream day and I'm looking forward to possibly celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary here!
