Price is a bit expensive for adults if taking children, but there are decent children's parks at either side with good amenities, including area to eat packed lunches at either side. Journey is just the right length of time (25-30 mins each way) for the kids but little information is given during it. You can see the staff are giving it their best so I must credit them for that.

We have been here before and kids love the playground and the miniature train ride.
The Steam train ride to Shelley was enjoyable.
On this occassion, we visited during Feb half term. I paid £17 for one adult and 2 kids tickets. When we arrived at Shelley Station, the only thing open were the toilets!
We had planned on staying to wait for the next train back, using the Tea Rooms for a coffee for me and Ice lollies for the kids but it was closed.
So we killed ten mins in the small playground and returned on the same train. Seemed like a lot of money, £17, for the train ride and ten mins in the tiny playground. Had I been told when purchasing tickets that the Tea Rooms weren't open, I would not have bought the tickets knowing we would only be spending ten minutes at Shelley.

Brilliant for the children but an expensive trip. The gift my daughter received from Santa was not to be grumbled at though she adores it. Even now it is very much loved.
