We have just spent Christmas 2012 at the Luton Hoo - 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 8 plus family dog. I can't fault a single thing - our expectations were well and truly exceeded. The food was exceptional, the accommodation - interconnecting rooms were comfortable and well equipped. The activities which included a gift bearing Father Christmas, carols, clay pigeon shooting and a racing night dinner were all spot on. The spa was immensely enjoyable - had a thoroughly deserved back massage while the children enjoyed the heated indoor pool. The grounds are breathtaking and necessary to walk off all the food we consumed. It really was a fantastic break, which, thanks to the staff who really do bend over backwards to please, we shall always remember.

Room Tip: As we had a dog staying with us - we did not stay in the main house, rather in the accommodation adj...

Bought a last minute spa day for Luton Hoo. Although good value at £50 compared to other spas this was average. It was Boxing day however I did not expect lots of young children using the facilities in a spa. Kids clothes all over the floor in the changing room and screaming kids in the pool and in the splash pool despite signs saying no under 16 As this is sold as a spa there really should be some "adult only" time in the pool and due to the kids it was impossible to sit and relax anywhere When using the gym no one offered to show us how to use the machines despite two people sitting in office. No bath robes were given and lunch service was very slow taking over two hours in total.

We recently stayed two nights here. It is an amazing beautiful & well kept hotel/building, particularly if you are interested in history & architecture. Our room which was in the Annex of the hotel was spacious & v clean. The food was excellent. My only issue with the place was the generally poor service. There were lots of staff, mostly very young, who were extremely polite & helpful but just don't know what they were doing a lot of the time. There seemed to be a lack of communication between them & a lack of experience & knowledge. Having said that, they always tried to put things right & for that reason alone, I would definitely go back again.

I have been to Elite Hotels before and Luton Hoo before and this weekend was absolutely wonderful. We were celebrating our 50th birthday celebrations and when we arrived we were upgraded to room 207 in the courtyard. The room was lovely, very spacious with the lovely roll topped bath and walk in shower with Molten Brown products so leave yours at home. There was a lovely view over the courtyard and you were very close for breakfast. Dinner at the main house was fabulous and I can recommend the deserts. We walked around the grounds and down towards Warren Weir and it was lovely. They could not do enough for you even though it was very busy with a wedding and all the Christmas parties. I loved it I will be back next year

Room Tip: I have stayed in the House, Warren Weir and the Courtyard and all have been fab

This is a premium resort with a wow factor.
Despite paying for a room upgrade, our first room was starting to look tired, broken fixtures, chipped paint, broken tiles in the bathroom. The heating (in DECEMBER) had a fault and was blowing cold air. A frank discussion with the very lovely manageress allowed us to move room to a larger room in better condition...but with a shower that would not stay hot.
The food is very good, the staff are really attentive and listen and really go the extra mile.
Not particularly well organised, and unable to listen to specific requests.
The spa is very good, a premium experience and worth the money.
In my honest opinion a good weekend away, but for the money should have been truelly special.

Room Tip: I think the mansion house rooms are to a higher standard than the garden rooms.

We booked the romantic package and we were let down by the service. We arrived early to a rather chaotic reception in the mansion house. Three staff, but only one seemed to be able to handle check-in. We were told we would be called when our room whas ready, although that never happened, so we had a walk arround the lovely gardens and then took an afternoon tea. The service for the tea was excellent, although and the sandwiches and scones were rather bland. When we were shown to our room the Champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries were absent, but the receptionist said she would sort it out. 45 minutes later, I called to remind them. 20 minutes later still no sign, so called again and 15 minutes later the champagne arrived, but no strawberries. The staff member was very appologetic and handled this well, however this did spoil the romantic aspect somewhat.
We were in room 21 on the 2nd floor which was nicely furnished and had great views with a well fitted bathroom, except it proved impossible to get hot water in the shower - sounds like a similar experience judging from other reviews. The hot water in bath was also variable in speed.
We had dinner in the Wernher restaurant and were provided a complimentary glass of champage because of the earlier issues. The food was of a high quality and the service was good, but not 5 star.
We took breakfast in the Wernher restaurant, however we were not offered the option of a cooked to order breakfast and only found this out when the menu was provided, after we had already been invited to help ourselves to the buffet, however, the buffet was very good.

All -in-all, the mansion building was interesting, but we have had far better experiences at other hotels, where the service is truely 5 star and where you feel pampered and well looked after.

Room Tip: Room 21 was very quiet, although the shower was useless.

Booked this hotel because I had seen it on Katie and Peter a long time ago and looked gorgeous on the internet! It didn't disappoint. We booked a mansion house room and were in room number one which was directly above reception and the restaurant. I had emailed the hotel prior to our stay to ask about the dress code in the restaurant and was told jacket or tie for gentleman. When I asked if jeans were permitted I was told yes so told my husband he didn't need to take trousers. Unfortunately that wasn't the case so when we arrived we had to go to Next to buy a pair of smart trousers!

Once back from our shopping trip we had a walk round the grounds and went for a swim over in the separate spa building, a short walk away. We had booked dinner in the Wernher restaurant and opted for the tasting menu which was gorgeous and so filling. All in all a very relaxing and extravagant night away. Would recommend to anyone looking for a romantic weekend away.

Room Tip: Choose a mansion house room
