Having been to the beach over many years I was delighted to return and find what a great job had been done renovating it.
Very friendly staff and a lovely breakfast, to go with a spotless modern room.

We stayed in a family room for one night and was pleasantly surprised.

The whole hotel was modern, fresh and very clean. The location was great too... ideally this hotel would have it's own car park but there is one just behind which is pay and display.

The biggest plus for us was the staff. We were welcomed by Charlie (?) who was simply warm, welcoming and lovely... it really does make a difference!

The breakfast was also as expected and quite nice.

The only thing that I would say is Minehead is a ghost town... I wouldn't come here again to Minehead. We only stayed here as a drop off en route home from our actual holiday. The town is quiet, rundown and very miserable actually....

BUT the hotel was lovely!!

To celebrate my Step Dad's 70th Birthday he wanted to go on the West Somerset Steam Railway. We needed to find somewhere that would do us a Sunday lunch for 14 and the Beach Hotel seemed a perfect choice. Charlotte and the team were very accommodating and made this birthday lunch a real special occasion.
The restaurant was decorated for us and lunch was served promptly when we arrived so we had plenty of time before our journey back on the train. We had beautiful roast beef with all the trimmings and a gorgeous chocolate desert followed by birthday cake.
What ever was required for the group they catered for. I hope they do many more like this as everyone would feel most welcome.
Thank you once again to Charlotte and the team.

My 12 year old daughter & I stayed here for 3 nights,we had a lovely stay in one of the luxury rooms which was very clean & comfortable,we also had a good sea view from our room. The staff are very helpful & friendly especially Charlie on reception who was lovely & very welcoming. We had an iron & ironing board & a hair dryer brought to our room for us to use for the entirety of our stay.
We had a cooked breakfast in the mornings which was really nice & also had an evening meal in the restaurant which was excellent! I will definitely be staying here again.Thankyou!

Big rooms, nice decor, not a bad view, good service. Yes the renovations were still going on but the character of the old hotel was intact and the service was friendly and helpful Good location across from the railway station and beach. Would stay here again.

Hotel:

The hotel is recently renovated with at the time of writing minor renovation work continuing. The hotel is tastefully decorated with good features and furniture throughout, from the exterior the hotel perception is totally different to the look inside.

Location:

The location of the hotel is great, it is right on the waterfront right beside the railway museum which is good if your interested in that sort of thing. a morrisons is 5 minutes walk away if you need anything. The one downside to the location is that there is no parking so you have to use the pay and display next to the hotel.

Room:

The rooms were clean, very spacious and modern with good amenities. The beds were comfortable, a reasonably large flats screen TV with freeview was provided as well as the usual tea and coffee making facilities. A nice touch was the provision of two bottles of sparkling water and some bourbon biscuits. The bathroom was clean and modern although missing a hairdryer which from reading other reviews seems to be something that was on order and should be available soon.

Bar and breakfast:

Although we did not use the bar it seems to have a reasonable stock of beers, ciders and spirits to sort all tastes. The breakfast was good, you have the option of having a cooked breakfast as well as a continental breakfast. The cooked breakfast was good, the sausage was especially tasty, the only factor i thought was missing was some baked beans to go with the dish. The continental breakfast consisted of a help your self selection of various cereals, yogurts, toasts, croissants and pain au chocolate. It is a good selection and i would recommend the au chocolate as they are great.

Staff:

The staff were all polite and courteous to your needs as well as recognising your face and asking how your are. A special mention goes to the manager for his good banter combined with great knowledge of the area and the building. He also gets a commendation for helping potentially disadvantaged young people gain employment with him, giving the skills and qualifications in the hospitality area.

Conclusion:

Overall a fantastic hotel and staff who offer superb value for money in a convenient location. A few minor changes could be made to improve the experience but the changes are so minor that they don't detract from the experience. Keep up the good work.

We stayed with our three year old and although a little noisy from the road we had a lovely room. The room was spotless and huge and looked out over the road towards the sea and the steam railway next door. I believe the hotel has been recently refurbished and opened. Some of the younger staff could do with a little more training but were polite and very friendly. Downside was having no hotel parking so you have to pay in the pay and display car park and the hairdryers hadn't been delivered so a little annoying. Breakfast was nice and caters for vegetarians as well. We were a little disappointed that the amazing looking evening menu didn't seem to cater for kids so unfortunately didn't have an evening meal. Overall a pleasant stay with our little family.
