Now taken over by weatherspoons and 100% improvement since its independent days. the Character of the hotel is still intact. with very friendly staff and service. the food is excellent and very good prices which is what we now expert for these establishments. i must say that the steak we had was one of the nicest meals i have had for a long time.

The original hotel that Weatherpersons took over has been kept pretty much intact to their credit - its a great old building and eating experience, add the outstanding value and quality of food and drink on offer just improves the experience. Just the benchmark for service, value and quality.

The Duke of Wellington in Minehead is a very reasonable priced Hotel.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable, airy with very good bath and shower facilities. The food and bar prices are very good indeed, the food is excellent and the beer very cheap.
All the staff are very helpful, happy with good senses of humour, I would recommend this Hotel to any one wanting a location that you can explore Exmoor, The Beach, the Shops or just chill out.
I have been to this Hotel numerous times with my family and I cannot wait for the next time, love it.

Room Tip: 112 is a bit noisey on a Friday and Saturday but not unbearably so.

We decided at the last minute to book a one night stay at this hotel. The chap at the reception made us welcome and in view of my walking difficulties offered to get the stair lift down for me. I did decide to walk up the stairs. Our room was spacious and clean. We had an evening meal which was nicely cooked, hot and plenty of it. True when we retired we could hear people from the bar downstairs but this was not particularily intrusive. The breakfast in the morning was again served hot and plentiful. The price of the food was we thought very reasonable. Altogether a nice stay.

Stayed here with the kids - some of the rooms are really big, light and airy, some are really small and dark.

We had both - the family rooms are the big, light and airy ones so it's worth the extra to get these. As we wanted a futher double that was close to the family room, we ended up with a room that was just slightly bigger than the double bed with the bed itself pushed against the wall on one side (which made getting into and out of bed interesting), one smallish window and a dim light.

Rooms were clean with onsuite bath or shower room, tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen TV.

As you are above a wetherspoon, relatively inexpensive food is available downstairs although it gets very busy on a Sunday lunchtime.

Overall, enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Go for a family room if they are availalbe

You get what you pay and I did, the room was dim, the bathroom radiator leaked, there was no soap for the sink and the room did smell a little, but the food and beer was really cheap so it sort of balanced out, did like Minehead quite a nice little town.

Fantastic value, for one of the cheapest places in town. We had an enormous and clean family room with a view of the town square. Breakfast was good value and hearty and staff friendly. Recommended.
