We stopped at the Furze Bush for a bite to eat at lunchtime with the view to having dinner there that evening. When we enquired about sandwiches, we were told in a very off hand manner, that they didn't do sandwiches on Saturdays and we'd have to make do with the children's lunch menu.
Needles to say we had neither lunch or dinner there, purely because of the manner in which we were spoken too. The service at the bar for drinks was abysmal and as a lady in the considerable queue behind me said, "the service in this place is like the "Marie Celeste".
In short, the attitude and efficiency was appalling. We would not return and would not recommend the Furze Bush as there are so many other places which are far more welcoming, friendly and courteous.

After many visits and good service . We were so disappointed on a recent vist and going to the trouble of booking a table for wich we sat at for a period of two and a quater hours to have ones meal .The beef was not cook propally well done on the out side raw and stringy in the middle. Then too top it all we had to ask twice for the dessert menu after choosing it took almost half an hour to come asking several times were it had got to. We Donot blame the waiting staff the trouble was in the kitchen.

Lovely sunny day so decided to go for a pub lunch, enjoyed the food until 4 hours later my girlfriend came down with a severe case of food poisoning. The food is very hit and miss and the service is even more so! The location, building and beers are decent, however it is lacking in certain areas as talked about above.

My husband and I are regulars to this pub, however our last 2 visits have been disappointing. It is clear that the previous chef has left, and the chef employed now seem to think if you pile it high, everyone will be happy. That is not the case..... The starter of prawn mayonnaise is a easy one, however the sauce was sloshed on, and the whole plate looked uninviting...finesse is obviously not the forte of the new chef. The main course was similar and the chips were overcooked. We used to love this pub and Tina is a great host, but we will not be going back until they have a new chef ( please!) who knows how to cook, and to keep the noise down when cooking (awful noise and raucous laughter) .my husband also suffered from stomach cramps after the meal....not good.

Upon entering the bar area to the Furze Bush Inn we, my husband, 15 yr old son and I were welcomed by a pleasant bar woman who served us drinks and when asked gave us that day's menus. When we looked at these menus we noticed that there was a limited vegetarian choice of one dish. I asked the bar person whether there was any other alternatives as there were 2 vegetarians in the party and £10.95 seemed a lot for a bowl of pasta. She hesitated before answering, which is when a woman chef appeared behind her and said "we can take the bacon off the goats cheese salad". The chef then walked away. This blunt and disinterested response from the chef was disconcerting but as we were hungry and in a hurry we opted for the pasta dish rather than have drama over the salad.

When our meals arrived we were shocked by the bland and uninspiring small bowl of pasta we'd been presented with. I called to the waitress stating that the price of this dish on the menu surely called for something more impressive than a bowl of dried pasta in a luke warm cream sauce and a teaspoon of wild mushrooms placed on top. Her response was to suggest that she could ask the chef for some more! I told, her that really wouldn't be good enough. (A side salad with some Italian bread would've made it more impressive surely?!)

We ate the meal uninterrupted by any staff enquiring as to our levels of satisfaction. The bar person came over eventually, once we'd finished, apologised and offered us free sweets, a drink or coffee. We ordered 3 apple and strawberry crumbles with custard and 2 filter coffees. The coffee arrived shortly afterwards but we waited for 40 mins and no desserts arrived. We questioned the waitress as to whether they were coming and she said they were on their way but had to be freshly cooked. It would appear that meant growing the apples first!

At this point we had reached the point of exasperation, gave her the money for the one satisfactory meal, what we felt the two pasta dishes were worth, bar drinks and left. We did inform her that the front of house staff were fine but the kitchen staff and food were awful and we would never be back.

Having read the previous review we would whole heatedly agree that something is terribly wrong with this establishment. The staff need more training, it's tired, and pretentious. As the previous reviewer said - it could be great but needs a lot of work. However, we will not be back after my son and I suffered with terrible stomach cramps for 4 hours after eating there.
