“Keep it simple!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

We stayed at the H & H recently for a weekend break. The staff were very friendly and genuinely wanted to please and the rooms were clean and tidy. However, they are trying to do to much rather than keeping it simple and doing things well.

The offers available on food and accommodation were confusing for all and when we asked for clarification we were told ' I make it up as I go along!' This was very true and while we got good service, food and value this can't be an effective way to run a profitable business.

DearLucajon

I am very pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay.

It would appear that in sending out our WINTERBREAK promotion to our mailing list, (found on our website through the link top of page) that our extremely generous offer was not perhaps communicated effectively in your case. For this I apologise, I have, as you would expect, ironed out this small glitch.

Hopefully it won.t stop you taking advantage of future offers and I hope Harry has settled in!

Jonathan

We were a party of three couples who stayed here 25/01/12 on the way to taking a flight for london. The rooms were spotless and perfectly comfortable. We had a great bar meal in the restaurant and even managed to extract bacon rolls for breakfast at 07.15 when officially the breakfast didn't start until 08.00. All the staff were relaxed and accommodating and a credit to the hotel. Over all, an excellent service at an excellent price..we will be returning in a month..

Dear IWIWW

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay and that we were able to provide a great British classic to send you on your travels. I can personally vouch for our bacon rolls, as those who have met me will have noticed!!
I trust you will have had an enjoyable time away and look forward to your returning to our cosy inn soon.
Thank you

Jonathan

Only stayed 1 night and was great value for money. The Restauraunt was a bit pricey but lovely food. Breakfast could not be faulted. Rooms were spotless. Only 5 mins drive to Newbury Town Centre. Great value for families

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the main road

Thank you for your kind words. The nicest part was the title, "Great Value for Money in an Olde Worlde Coaching Inn" Its what we are, and we are so proud of our Inn and its what we hope we give and we are so proud of all who help us achieve it.
Lastly we really would like to say a BIG Thank You, to you and all who take the time to tell us that you enjoyed your time at The Hare

I stayed there as I didnt want to use the Hilton.
Small main building but surrounded by cottage rooms which were quiet and spotless free wi fi the room I had was adequate for my over night and some work.
Table booked for 7 menu was varied with some specials all home cooked and my Fish Pie was great no frills just good food at a good price.
All staff were great and were efficient and accomodating.
for an overnight its great and good parking
more charachter than the HILTON with Humans as staff

Room Tip: i would always go for a courtyard room

My partner and I spend Christmas with our separate children so always look forward to a new year break together. This one did not disappoint. Food was truly excellent and we were very comfortable in our room. Our hosts were very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 for one night. It was fine although a bit small for an extended stay. We didn...

Hi Alison

Thank you so much for your comments. This was our most successful New Year's Eve to date and is still being talked about by our locals. What better way to end such a wonderful 2012!
Well done to Claire, Rob and all for making our New Year celebrations memorable, and thank you both, we hope to see you again soon.

Jonathan & Jean
PS rm6 is one our smallest but as you say still comfortable and the shortest walk from the bar!

Booked this hotel last minute for a business meeting in the area and luckily they had a room at a reasonible price. Upon arriving the staff where very friendly and accomodated me with a table in the bar for an evening meal even though they had christmas partys in there.

The bar is very clean and staff are friendly especially the owners, the food is very tastey and plenty of it. I got the pie and the gravy was out of this world a must try.

The room is seperate to the pub and has everything you would need in a room, i only had a few issues with the room was the noise from the car park was loud with constant door shutting but i put this down to christmas time with lots of partys :-) The extractor in the room was quite loud and was no way to turn it off if you wasn't showering. The last thing was the kettle which had no filter so the limescale came out into the cup but i told reception about this and they replaced it straight away.

Overall a nice place to stay at a very reasonible cost

Dear Ranuth

So pleased you enjoyed your sta, and thank you for taking the time to leave your comments..

Our Steak Pie and indeed Famous Fish Pie are our most popular dishes and we are indeed very proud of both.

We were busy with parties, we do try to ensure there is little or no disturbance from diners leaving, and apologise this affected you.As you would expect, the other issues have been dealt with.
Thanks again
