A business lunch for four took us to the recently refurbished Bunk Inn and what a great surprise. Friendly, professional staff, spotless and cosy interior, great beer and the very best rib eye I’ve eaten for a long time!
Fed up with curries and the huge variability of general “pub grub”, I’ve been on a real cow meat mission this year, including three of Hawksmoor’s restaurants, Gaucho, Mark Hix’s Tramshed, Black & Blue, a proper “cowboy cut” in the USA and numerous pub steaks, but this out-flanked (sorry) them all for it's tenderness and that marbling of fat that makes the perfect flavoursome rib-eye. All four of us chose the steak, and all agreed it was fantastic. Accompanied by equally excellent chunky chips, this was a great meal.
Well done and thank you to butcher, meat buyer, chef and bar staff.
