A business lunch for four took us to the recently refurbished Bunk Inn and what a great surprise. Friendly, professional staff, spotless and cosy interior, great beer and the very best rib eye I’ve eaten for a long time!

Fed up with curries and the huge variability of general “pub grub”, I’ve been on a real cow meat mission this year, including three of Hawksmoor’s restaurants, Gaucho, Mark Hix’s Tramshed, Black & Blue, a proper “cowboy cut” in the USA and numerous pub steaks, but this out-flanked (sorry) them all for it's tenderness and that marbling of fat that makes the perfect flavoursome rib-eye. All four of us chose the steak, and all agreed it was fantastic. Accompanied by equally excellent chunky chips, this was a great meal.

Well done and thank you to butcher, meat buyer, chef and bar staff.

We went to the Bunk Inn recently with some friends. When we arrived the car park was full and so was the bar, looked like a party taking place but we were welcomed and shown to our table fairly quickly.

The menu reads great, food sounds lovely. The breads was really tasty but we found our starters a little on the small side. Onto the mains we had a mixed bag. Two of us had lamb shank which was lovely. Two of us had partridge which was undercooked and really hard to eat. Puddings again were a mixed bag, creme brulee & chocolate pave lovely, marshmallow just not to our taste and served with some honeycomb which tasted burnt.

Waitress knew we were unhappy, but did not ask for comments or feedback.

Prices were on the high side, for the amount they charge it needs to be better. Think they are doing well but just needs to be consistent.

We decided to go for an early supper at our local pub. We have stopped for drinks several times since the major refurbishment by Upham Brewery and the atmosphere and service has been fine. We arrived just after 6pm and the pub was very quiet. We ordered 1 item from the bar menu and 1 item from the specials board. The food took quite some time to arrive even though the kitchen can't have been busy. The special (a ham, black pudding and leek pie topped with mustard mash) did not look appetising when it arrived with a very watery layer of mash on top. The contents were barely edible.
On complaining the staff offered a free dessert as compensation. When we said this did not seem adequate they proceeded to argue with us about the merits of the pie.

A place that is tucked away but well worth searching out. Having been there today I can say it was a delight to have gone there.
Whilst the menu may not be the 'normal' pub fare there is plenty to choose from and anyone would be hard pressed not to find something to their liking. Top quality food and made it a wonderful meal and I look forward to going back again.
Excellent service from cheerful staff and this was repeated across the many people eating there. For those liking their real ales then beers are from the Upham Brewery ( which I hadn't heard of ) and very nice too. Only problem when being the driver is that you can't sample very much of it !

All in all a great place and one that I would like to visit again, especially on a summers evening. Make the effort to visit it and you won't be disappointed.

What a treat; a Michelin Star in the making!

When we walked into the Bunk there was a friendly buzz and despite it being busy we were acknowledged and were soon served with drinks and shown to our table.
With one of us being vegetarian and allergic to nuts we are not the easiest to please but there was a genuine interest in finding the best combination of foods and instead of nuts with the meal some honeyed parsnips were brought for us to try.
The staff could not have been more helpful. The experience was so good that we went for another meal within the same week! Although the food is the most important aspect of eating out the ambiance, decoration and service really make the experience special and the team at the Bunk certainly knows what special means! The decor is clean, tidy and tasteful without too much fuss, the food is picturesque without being pretentious and is absolutely delicious and not overly expensive! We highly recommend it....see you there!
