“Look beyond the unkempt exterior”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

Venture into this pub eatery and you will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Plenty of variations and all very tasty.

The roadside impression does not do the pub justice as you might expect to find just ordinary micro waved pub grub on the menu. What you do get is well prepared tasty fare and filling portions.

The bistro ambience is very welcoming but could benefit from a lick of paint to give it a fresher look.

With the right tidying up to the exterior / parking area and a knowledge of the good food available you will find that passerby's will be screeching to a halt to eat there.

“Great local pub”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

This is the perfect place for an informal lunch/dinner or a traditional Sunday roast. Everything is locally sourced, freshly cooked and served with a smile. There's a choice of real ales for beer drinkers, draught lager and a sensible selection of wines. The menu is quite small which ensures that everything is fresh but nevertheless it offers something for everyone. If you are in the area and feeling peckish then this is the place.

“Good food, good beer, friendly service”
Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

As a regular visitor to Newbury, this is one of the best pub/restaurants in the area. The food is very good, with good beer from the west Berkshire brewery.

“Made our Trip.”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We were staying in the Regency Park hotel and visting Highclere Castle , we are Irish and really wanted an English country pub sunday lunch, and we hit the jackpot. Fantastic Roast beef dinner with lovely veg gravy real roasties! and Yorkshire pudd! lovely real ale and a log fire. the staff were very friendly food was fantastic and the bread and butter pudding was to die for. Loved this place and if i'm ever around that way again I would be having Lunch and Ale in the Red House. What a Find!!
