“Good food, good beer, friendly service”
Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

As a regular visitor to Newbury, this is one of the best pub/restaurants in the area. The food is very good, with good beer from the west Berkshire brewery.

“Made our Trip.”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We were staying in the Regency Park hotel and visting Highclere Castle , we are Irish and really wanted an English country pub sunday lunch, and we hit the jackpot. Fantastic Roast beef dinner with lovely veg gravy real roasties! and Yorkshire pudd! lovely real ale and a log fire. the staff were very friendly food was fantastic and the bread and butter pudding was to die for. Loved this place and if i'm ever around that way again I would be having Lunch and Ale in the Red House. What a Find!!

“A very good pub, one of the best in Newbury”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

A very well run pub, with great pub food and very good service. The Red House, Highclere has a good menu and good wine list, far above what other pubs in the area offer. The food is of good quality, well cooked and well served, with attention paid to detail. The staff are good and add to the atmosphere, which really retains its charm as a local pub. The service can be a little informal at times, though. For example, don't expect to taste your wine; we were a little rushed whilst reading the menu too. It goes with the 'local pub' setting but is a little confusing, as the food is very good and the service is at times of much higher quality.
