“Good but not great”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Value for money on set menu, shame about it being on Victoria Road, not the best setting. Good service, prompt and efficient. However, when I mentioned I was none too happy with the butchery of the rabbit in my risotto - nothing - no apology, nothing, not even a comment back to me. Small sharp bones in a risotto, is not good.

“Good food, friendly staff”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

I recently visited The Green Room with friends. The restaurant has a good ambience and is quite quirky. There is however a cold draught if you sit near to the door but staff were aware of this and moved a portable radiator nearer to the table. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The 'Early Birds' Menu was very good value and food was very tasty and well presented. It is a good venue for couples or small groups but I would not recommend it for a night out with the girls or large parties due to the size and intimacy of the venue. The main menu was more comprehensive however considerably more pricey. Average bottle of wine at £22 also seemed a bit steep.

Overall an enjoyable evening.

“A real asset to food lovers in Scarborough”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

We dined here on a short trip to the East Coast after reading the reviews in the Independent, It was as good as the review said. Excellent quality food, imaginatively combined and cooked. It is clearly in the hands of someone who loves cooking and cares about what he provides. The Whitby haddock risotto was brilliant as was the mallard. A small but very good reasonably priced wine list. And all served wonderfully by a proud mum. This is how good eating out should be - imagination, flair but no pretentions in sight.

“Good value and interesting food”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

We enjoyed an evening meal from the fixed price menu which gave us good choices and interesting well cooked food.

We enjoyed our plaice starters and the lamb hot pot and fish pie were delicious.

The wines on offer were also good value.

Very good service and cosy atmosphere. We will visit again when we return to Scarborough.

“Great place to dine”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

What can I say? This is a gem of a restaurant in a town where you're not exactly spoilt for choice for quality dining. Came here with my girlfriend for a meal before heading to the Stephen Joseph Theatre and we were both impressed by the food (especially the cheese board!) The choice of menus is very good with something to suit all budgets, and the service to match. The restaurant itself is a lovely little place, perfect as a placve for special occasions and I will definitely come here again.
