This was my second stay at The Terrace, and it was just as nice as the last time in September 2010. I can only repeat what I said last year, The Terrace is warm clean and the full English breakfast served in the cosy dining room is more than adequate. Chris and Sylvia are always very helpfull with advice on places to visit. The rail station and the bus stops to all the various places of interest are just across the road. There are good views of the town from the castle, with interesting displays about the history of the castle site and some artefacts discovered there. There is a great view of the townfrom Oliver's Mount, with a cafe/restaurant, where you can get tea or coffee and a nice meal, the prices are quite reasonable. There are regular buses to Whitby, with its abbey and church on the headland with wonderfull views of the harbour and town (worth walking the 199 steps to the top). There are also regular buses to Pickering and Helsmley, again very nice towns to visit, with castles to explore. As my main interests and hobbies are photography and history, I never get tired of going to these places. Although I am single, there are plenty of things for families with children to keep them occupied without getting bored..
