The first and most important thing about Red Dragon is that their All You Can Eat Buffet isn't the traditional style of buffet. Here you get to order in PLATES of food. They're fairly small, but you can only order one at a time. This is good because you get to try a huge sample of dishes, each one hand-cooked right there and then (so none of this food hanging around and going dry nonsense). This is bad because you're often too full after a few dishes to sample any others.
That said, the food IS delicious. There were two of us, so we got to choose four starters together and four main courses. The food was fresh, warm, very tasty and really, I've eaten at a LOT of Chinese restaurants (A LOT) and I thought the food was absolutely great. The Sizzling Platters were delicious, really, absolutely scrummy; as was the Crispy Beef (proper tasty sauce and actually crispy batter on the beef - a rarity for me).
It's a different way of doing things, sure, and there's a charge for leaving food, but that was never an issue as we finished off our main meals and couldn't face anything else. We got a load of rice, which was lovely and fluffy, and there was more than enough food there for two people.
Overall, Red Dragon is really very nice, and I'll definitely be going back to try all the things I missed the first time which looked delicious.
To people who are criticizing this place for NOT being like all the other All You Can Eat places, I say this: those buffets (like Cosmo and Red Hot Diner) are filled with homogeneous and boring stale and dry foods. This is all cooked fresh and it's filled with taste and spices.
I think it's a different experience, but definitely a pleasant one. Now I've found two dishes I absolutely love, it's a matter of going back to find two more to enjoy.
And the place was lovely and clean, the toilets immaculate.
