Love this place my wife has been coming here since she was a little girl and she always has the Knickerbocker Glory, and I have been brining her for 30 years and it is still the same. The only difference is the price which has changed a lot but we still have to visit the Harbour Bar every time we are at York, it's a trip down memory lane

We will be back again

Well whilst taking a holiday here someone said you've got to try alonzi's

Well I wish I hadn't. Arrived at the harbour bar the place was busy with very little seating most of the seating was at the bar eventually after a 15 minute wait got a small table in the corner and had a 5 minute hunt for the menu which I eventually had to wave down a member of staff for, the menu looked great that's where the greatness ended the signature ice cream sundaes where £5.75 which I thought was slightly pricey but you have to consider where you are, the other menus like the kids ices and the waffle menu where choice based and gave you a lot of options.

You have to go to the counter to order and this is where the problems start you can't get to the bar because of the seating you have to squeeze between the stools or lean over someone else and shout we ordered 1 kids ice and 2 waffles and a coke because of all the options it took 10 minutes for the lady to take the order she didn't write any of it down so constantly had to ask for it to be repeated they don't bring the ices over to the table so you have to stay at the counter and wait so like us with kids one person had to wait on there own or all three of us wait at the counter and lose our table the ice cream is separate to the counter so first our waffles where toasted then placed in the counter to be sent over to the ice cream counter to then have to come back for cream and fruit overall the whole process must have taken 45 minutes from entering to getting ice cream what a mess and to top if off the lady waited for the ice creams to all be ready before taking the money which means the ice cream for my partner had pretty much melted on the hot waffle by the time she got away from the counter, as for the taste the ice cream was ok and the cherries where amazing but the waffle was over cooked and hard to the point where we both left them.

Overall a great concept and if done well would have been a great experience but was just poor in every way stick to a 99 with bits and juice it's easier

Our family visits to Scarborough always have a "must do" of a visit to the Harbour Bar. We have been visiting since our childhood and now are taking our grandchildren - and it never lets us down. Whether it's hot chocolate, knickerbocker glory, or "just" an ice cream, it's always a delight.

Fabulous 1950s decor and gorgeous ice cream! I have been visiting here for ice cream since the early 70s and it never disappoints!
