A busy car park betrays the popularity of this fairly large roadside pub. Very conventional inside but comfortable. The food is well-priced, very generous and tasty with a large menu. Good selections of beers too.
Has a friendly staff who are efficient. Unless you have a huge appetite choose the 'small' roast selection - it was more than enough for us!

Returned to this restaurant last Sunday for lunch , was not disappointed, the food was excellent 9 vegtables plus roast and new potatoes, slice of beef, lamb, pork and turkey, all cooked to perfection, and the parsnips in batter, yum yum. The service is good and the food value for money.
As it is just up the road, will visit again soon.

After the "fine dining" of recent events the Walking Diners from Ryedale Walking Group felt like trying some good old "pub grub". The Foxhounds Inn at Flixton is renowned for an extensive menu and large portions. I haven't visited there before - but now I know this is true! The pub is very popular with local farmers.

Main meal prices started at a reasonable £7.00 for a roast dinner, going up to the "Gut Buster" at £29.95 - which included a 16 oz Sirloin Steak, a 16 oz Gammon Steak, 3 Pork Chops and much more besides... No one, not even my friend David who can eat a horse, was prepared to choose such an enormous meal. Between the ten of us we had everything from sizzling fajitas to a "small" roast pork dinner. The small sized portion being deemed to be large, the standard size enormous! If you chose Chicken Kiev (as my friend Jan did) you got two on your plate. The price of drinks were the cheapest I have seen in the area. A bottle of red wine for under £10. One pint and two glasses of wine (175 ml) for £8.50 - real value for money.

The pub is large with several separate rooms. It was full of locals, some were playing pool, others drinking, the rest were dining. I found the large screen TV showing football an unnecessary distraction. This was mounted on the wall of our dining room, I suppose some diners appreciate it, but I didn't.

The service was quick and efficient and we all went home sometime after 10.00 pm satisfied, after an enjoyable evening out.

Following a trusty search on Trip Advisor for a nice place to eat near Filey we ended up here and so glad we did food was tasty portions were huge and service was friendly. as others had stated the decor is dated but we went to eat not to look at the decor and will definitely be calling there again. the menu is vast and there is a great veggie selection too. well worth a visit. Would love to know if anyone ever manages to complete the mixed grill

Went to the Foxhounds today for a family lunch as a party of five.
The place was warm and not too busy, we were served our drinks straight away and left to look at the menus we were not hurried in our choosing and did not have too long to wait after ordering before our food came ( about 10 min ). We all agreed that our food was delicious and plenty of it. I only have 2 small gripes, the chips are too thick more like roast potatos and they do a savers menu in the daytime but we were not given these without asking for them. All in all was a good lunch, will go again
