“Must avoid this.”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

The deal they offer for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine sounds good. Unfortunately the amateurish staff, the poor quality of the food and the ruination of one of the few nights we spent in Scarborough was a real downer. The waitress brought 2 rolls to us to start, and then never did bring the other 2. One of the 4 steaks was totally inedible, and shouldn't even be used for cat food. (My cat is not choosy but he wouldn't eat it, I'm sure). After 20 minutes by which time we had already ordered drinks and food, the maître de came and asked what would we like to drink and would we like the menus? We didn't laugh too much at this point as we were starting to think we had made a big mistake. We had travelled that day and were tired so decided to tough it out by ordering another bottle of wine which was lovely. To finish things off, what the waitress told us was a mousse turned out to be chocolate cake and not even nice at that. Oh well, lets just write it off as a bad, bad experience. £120 for 4 of us to suffer, thanks to Tripadvisor not in silence.

“Birthday meal, thoroughly enjoyed.”
Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

If your looking for a traditional night out with romantic music and simple cuisine then give this place a try. We had a table booked for eight people, and all I could see was empty plates after every dish. The menu was simple but had a few things I've not tried, like pan seared wood pigeon! Why not! We were surprised with a free appetiser, salmon mousse with cavia and chives and then our ordered dishes. All the food was piping hot, simple and delicious. To round off the evening, we were again surprised with a free birthday cake with my name piped onto the dish in chocolate, and a free bottle of Prosecco for us all to share. There was no rushing, the staff were pleasant and again, the food was lovely. The live band were also very good, playing soft jazz and taking requests. Certainly nothing to complain about at all.

“Mediocre”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

Food was nice, atmosphere ok - not live jazz on a Sunday. Restaurant was very quiet, only 3 tables yet service was poor. Had to ask for table water, bread, had to pour our own wine. Waters not attentive. Wouldn't recommend.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

We visited here because we had a half price voucher, however even at half price the experience was not worth it ! Menu is limited , wine very expensive beats London prices :-( £7 a glass , ordered pâté for starters and it was just like a shop own brand un eatable :-( we waited 20minitues for service and sat next to a very dirty un cleaned table our mains were editable however chicken over cooked and pork was burnt . The bubble sqeuck was instant mash !!!! For desert we ordered a cheese board no plates or knife was served with the dish we waited and failed for 30miniutes to get service so then asked for bill and refused to pay for the un eaten pudding !!! Admittedly the manage then did not charge for the extras , although we shall not be visiting again ;-(

“Wonderful Evening”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

We had a wonderful evening.listening to gentle jazz, a very professional slick jazz trio. The meal was unhurried, the food delicious, the service very friendly and professional and the ambience lovely. Thursday & Friday is steak-night. An 8oz steak for two with a bottle of wine just £25.00. We will certainly be returning to sample other exiciting dishes from their A' la Carte Menu. We have holidayed in scarborough for many years and was not aware of this little jewel in Scarborough's crown.
