“Excellent dining”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

My wife and I had pre-booked a table here using their web-site (it qualifies for a 10% discount on a la carte dining). The meal was superb, and the restaurant manager, Francesco, along with the remainer of his staff were very attentive. This restaurant deserves to be higher in the position for dining in Scarborough.

“One of our all time favourites!”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

We visited this restaurant on Sunday night, April 21st and as before, had a beautiful meal. Our crab and parma ham starter was great, gorgeously presented but not teensy weensy. The sirloin steak with coffee beans was tremendous, if a little large, and cooked perfectly. The steak was served with lovely roast potatoes and fresh broccoli. Not usually pudding eaters, we greedily decided on tiramisu and chocolate cake with pineapple roasted in rum; both were superb. The restaurant is one of the very few that have a wine on their list called Lacrima, a bottled in Italy red, well worth a visit on its own. We look forward to visiting again next time we visit Scarborough, as it's by far and away the best restaurant there.

“Italian with a difference”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

This is an Italian with a difference, not a pizza in sight! There is an elegant interior. The menu has a good selection without being too long, with a range of prices so you don't need to spend a lot if you don't want to. The wine list is fairly short and has useful comments with each wine. We chose the cheapest white wine and it was very good. We shared a crab starter, beautiful crab and very nicely served. For mains I had a pasta - very nice and a large portion, my husband had salmon which he thought was fresh rather than frozen, and well cooked. The waitresses were very pleasant, ready to explain the dishes and if they did not know were happy to ask the chef. This place is at the top of my list of restaurants in Scarborough.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

This was our second visit here and will not be our last. The food is freshly home cooked and reflects the traditions of Italian cooking. We took advantage of the pre-theatre menu which represented excellent value and a wide range of choices including wine.
If enjoy true Italian flavours then a visit here is a must.

“Great food - great restaurant - different name”
Reviewed March 19, 2013 via mobile

Even though the restaurant is called Il Piatto online it is still called Da Claudio on the restaurant facade and all the menus. The taxi company was initially confused when we asked for Il Piatto so be warned!!
However the food was beautifully presented and very tasty. There are two menus available; the pre-theatre menu and the a la carte menu. You are able to switch between the two which is what we did, but you are unable to take advantage of the special offer available on the pre-theatre if you do this.
We had two starters, two mains, one pudding, two liqueur coffees and a decent bottle of wine for £80.00 which seemed very reasonable for the quality of the food.
Overall, I would recommend the restaurant to family and friends and would definitely return if I stay in Scarborough again.
