On returning from a trip to Whitby, my boyfriend and I wanted a one night stay in Scarborough. After most places telling us they wouldn't take us for just one night, we were happy to find Alexandra House.
We were pleasently surprised by the guest house, with our room and bathroom being of a nice size.
In addition, David and Carol made us feel very welcome, by giving us recommendations of nice resteraunts in the area.
They even told us they had a fridge in the dining room for us to store wine/other drinks in if we wished, which we did, and they even gave us two wine glasses.
The breakfast was excellent, with all food being locally sourced. A lovely touch was the pastries and fruit salad. We would definitely go back, and plan to return with out families!

Carol and Dave and fantastic hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and the service is second to none. The breakfasts are superb with a fantastic choice available. If you need to know anything about Scarborough or the surrounding area they are a wealth of knowledge. We would certainly stay here again.

Thanks very much Carol.

We returned home yesterday after our second stay at Alexandra House where again we were looked after so well by Carol and Dave. Our room was sparkling clean and comfortable and because the weather was bad and we had a 7 year old with us we stayed in both evenings and we were so comfy it wasn't a hardship at all.

Alexandra House has everything you could ask for to make your stay perfect.

We stayed at Alexandra House from 31st July to 7th August 2011 - our second visit, following a great stay in 2010. We weren't disappointed. Carol and Dave were excellent hosts, as ever, and Carol's breakfasts are second to none. We visit Scarborough every year and this will be our regular place to stay - so good, we booked for next year before we left! Last year we gave 5 stars and commented that we would have given 6 had they had wi-fi. We're delighted that wi-fi is now available and so would definitely rate as 6 stars if trip advisor would let us! Thanks again, Carol and Dave - look forward to seeing you next year! Carol, the owner, gave us a very warm welcome and told us about the area. We were told that we could park across the road with a parking permit which cost 50p per day, quite a bargain really, which we bought from Carol. Our room was lovely, comfy beds, a settee in the room, a very good, clear, digital television on the wall and there were lots of personal touches. There was cotton wool and a shower cap in the bathroom with shower gel, pump action soap and moisturiser. There was even a stamped postcard on the dressing table if you wanted to send a postcard. There were also tissues provided. Tea and coffee making facilities were in the en suite bedroom with biscuits provided every day. It was a nice, quiet place with the seafront within easy walking distance and shops were not that far away (so the best of both worlds). We were given a breakfast menu and could tick what we wanted for the following day. The cooked breakfast was perfect and you could also have fresh fruit salad, cereals, toast and there as a large selection of jams and marmalades with orange juice, apple juice, tea and coffee. It really set you up for the day. I can't really praise it enough and we have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone and would certainly stay there again. One of the loveliest places we've stayed at. Thank you Carol for making our stay so fantastic.

Clean, friendly and conveniently located we have just returned from this super B & B. The owner Carol was excellent, from the initial phone call to enquire through to the great breakfasts - a fantastic choice of yummy jams, curds and marmalades! Also offering lots of ideas for days out and where to eat. The bedrooms are roomy and comfy with big thick towels to use in the bathroom. Plentiful hospitality tray with tasty biscuits. What more could you ask for? Fantastic. We would book again if visiting Scarborough.

Room Tip: Just ask! Lots of on street parking.
