“Informative and interesting visit although over priced”

The centre is over priced but look out for the offers in the area, we picked up a 2 for 1 offer making it a more reasonable visit. Lots of different types of sea life to see and all seemed well looked after. I only wish it had been a bit warmer when we visited as it was freezing when we tried to listen to the otter talk. Was lovely to see the seals and penguins swimming around. Overall we had an enjoyable time here.

Hello and thank you for your review.
I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your recent visit to our centre and braved the cold weather to visit our sanctuary animals outdoors.
Many thanks

“Sea Life Centre, Scarborough”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

The ticket prices are expensive & would be a costly family day out. Although, it would be tough to spend all day there as there isn't enough to keep you occupied for any longer than 2-3 hours. The facilities are not very nice to use either. Would not recommend.

Hello and thank you for your review.
I am disappointed to hear that you felt there was not enough to keep you occupied on your recent visit to our centre. There are over 50 displays of marine life to see including seals, otters and penguins as well as a variety of creatures in the main aquarium. We also host regular talks and feeding demonstrations throughout the day and encourage our guests to go along to these to find out more about the animals and conservation issues. We appreciate all feedback. If you would like to discuss your visit further, please get in touch via slcscarborough@merlinentertainments.biz
Many thanks

“Get a half price deal...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

I love the sea life centre and visit a couple of times a year. There is always something to see and I can watch the seahorses and spider crabs for ages. There are a greater number of fish here than you would expect. Having been to visit aquariums in Osaka (my favourite) and Sydney as well as others, Scarborough does pretty well on limited resources. It is small but they have some great creatures to see. The jellyfish are good and the open pool with skates, rays and other sea fish is good. It is a bit pricey but if you look round locally you can pick up vouchers...
Kids love it and there are usually some seals in the sanctuary...
worth a trip...

“not too impressed.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

We went too sea life centre last week and I'm afraid we didn't enjoy it. It was very cold in there for a start even the staff looked cold, there didn't seem a lot to do when you have looked around. Price was expensive £22 even though we had half price voucher. Went for lunch in upstairs cafe had to wait 35 mins for our meal although when it came it was lovely, don't know how long when busy season. So overall we were not impressed.

“expected more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

It was OK, but for the entry price I expected more. We had easily seen everything in an hour but tried to drag it out to feel like we had better value for money.

Hello and thank you for your review.
Generally we find that guests attend a number of the talks and feeding demonstrations that we host every half hour throughout the day and that their visit lasts on average 2-2.5 hours. We also offer a hands on rockpool experience with a native and tropical touchpool as well as over 50 displays of marine life and an interactive quiz trail.
We appreciate all feedback. If you would like to offer further insight into your experience, please do get in touch via slcscarborough@merlinentertainments.biz
