Friendly Staff and a quality place to stay with wonderful sea views and privacy.

Clean with excellent food and facilities.

So nice to see that everything listed on the internet was there, it was just as we had planned, luxury, relaxation and privacy.

We will of course go back again

We stayed for two nights over the bank holiday weekend, and found the hotel friendly and efficient. The free on-street parking outside, is no problem, and we received a warm welcome from the hotel owner on arrival. We booked a sea view room, and you could indeed see the bay and sea from our room, and the provision of binoculars was a nice touch. The room itself was a little small, but it was clean and had everything we needed.

The hotel's location on the South Cliff is a plus, as it is a quieter location, yet within easy walking distance of the town. I would not want to be in the centre of town. We did find that the town was lacking in good pubs and wine bars, and the restaurants were nothing special. The cleanliness of the pubs and bars we found to be generally poor.

We did find that all the people working in the town to be very pleasant and helpful, including all the taxi drivers we used and the people in the shops, the staff of Mainline & in particular Alex at 'It's in your jeans ' menswear, who went above and beyond to try and secure us a reservation
at a good restaurant on the busy bank holiday weekend. One piece of advice, if you want a nice restaurant, book in advance, we could not get in a Jeremy's restaurant, but from the recommendations we heard, we would book this in advance if we came again. Robin Hoods Bay is well worth a visit as well.

We stayed at the guesthouse for 3 nights 25-28 May 2010. Not wishing to echo previous reviews, the location is lovely, the buiding is lovely and staff are friendly without being overbearing. There is ample free parking right outside.
The accomodation is situated on the South Cliff so is lovely and quiet, it is within comfortable walking distance to the town and the front.
Our room was a premium seaview room (11) and was situated on the 3rd floor, as there are no lifts this was very good exercise, however the less mobile may consider booking lower rooms. The rooms were very comfortable and nicely furnished, not the biggest rooms in the world but adequate. They also provide a minibar which I found to be overpriced, cans of coke which were clearly marked as being from a multipack were charged at £2.00 each. They do however, provide an extensive complimentary refreshment tray with tea, coffee, milk, water and biscuits at no extra cost.
Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and friendly, prompt service.
Bathrobes are provided which are very useful to sit in and enjoy the seaview, however they are removed from the room early in the morning the previous day prior to your departure....not sure why they can not leave them for your use until you depart? Very minor point.
The accomodation is classed as a 5* hotel, it is a lovely delightful house, however in comparison with 5* hotels it cannot compare. I would say it is an excellent 3*/4* guest house.
Again to echo a previous review at £110 per night I worry this establishment may price itself out. We stayed midweek and got 3 nights for the price of 2, which in my opinion was well worth the money. I would recommend this place for anyone to stay at. If the rates remain reasonable with special offers I would not hesitate to go back. Definitely amongst the best acccomodation in Scarborough......I have stayed in many.

My wife & I stayed at the MANSION HOUSE on 18th.& 19th. May 2010.Superb location

above SOUTH BAY.It is a beautiful terraced building & from the moment you walk in you feel

it's atmosphere.It is immaculate.beautiful furniture wall pictures,daily newspapers &

reading material in the front lounge with views over immaculately groomed street

lawns & flower beds & down to the harbour with Scarborough castle towering above.

The breakfasts are cooked to perfection & served by a very helpful and friendly staff.

We were even given a glass of red wine whilst our booking was sorted & our

suitcase carried up to our room. Our room was superb.lovely furniture & wonderful

shower.Quite simply ,everything is right here & we shall be returning.Highly

recommended. Regency elegance at it's best.
