We were sent to this hotel after booking Britania Grand hotel scarborough south pier, the other hotel is north pier, on arrival we were shocked to say the least, it looked like a derelict building, The clifton was being renavated, it looked like a bomb site, we were given a room which I wouldnt have put my dog in, stains on the bed, used tissue under the bed, dirty cups, all the furniture ad been touched up with white paint, there was some kind of substance splashed all over the walls and mirrors, The bathroom was no better mould all over the tiles on wall in shower, broken tiles on the floor, we didnt stay, To do us all a favour they should shut there doors till the referb is complete, we went back to the Grand were we were spoken to very rudley by the dutie manager, we ended up having to pay for another hotel. Which the staff at Britannia couldnt care less.

Absolutly horrible. was sent here from there sister hotel The Royal after they said they we over booked by 40 rooms (please i don;t think so) only stayed for 15 minutes that was enough, thread bare carpets, scaffolding for a sea view, brick dust everywhere, no grout in bathroom tiles and mouldy shower screen, noisy dangerous, decrepid old lift, extremely dated with the atmosphere of an old people home.

Hotel in need of updating! Some work has been completed ( not to a high standard) general cleanliness wasn't up to standard. Breakfast was ok ( I did only have yoghurt and fruit as the cooked option was terrible) we are out in the evening as the food served in hotel was awful! Save ya money and go somewhere else!

Pig stys are cleaner than this place. No one mentioned scaffolding when I booked a sea view room , the window wouldn't open, the toilet did not flush due to the fact that someone had stolen the workings, 2nd room no better, got back from dinner to find it rainging in, receptionist came and put towels down said that would do but then light fitting came out of bathroom ceiling, moved next door to superior room, bigger but just as filthy, headboard covered in stains, wallpaper stained and hanging off wall, mould in bathroom. They make it look so good on the website but it's lies, all lies , wouldn't stay again if they paid me !!!!!

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Omg, this has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in! We had payed extra for a superior room, but if that was a superior then I would hate to see the standard! Hadn't been cleaned since world war 2, mould and grubby tiles in shower. The tv was prehistoric as was the furniture. Stunk of damp and couldn't even open a window to let some air in as all windows sealed with paint! The food was atrocious, limited choice and tasteless. Canteen style poor quality tatt!!!
Good luck to all planning to stay at this joke of a hotel, never again!

Not to put too fine a point on it - this hotel is a total dump. The first room we were given was allegedly a sea view (yes if you had a telescopic neck and extended it over the car park) and looked more like a room in a young offenders' institute. Deep gouges in the desk, mould on the mirror, thick dust alongside the wardrobe and someone else's hair in the bath. We were moved to another room which was clean but so tiny the head of the bed was against one wall and the foot against the other. One night in my sleep I injured my foot kicking the wall then bashed my head on a reading lamp. The communal areas are so threadbare they are scary and the corridor my relatives were on stank of urine as if someone had literally had one in the corner. The sad thing is the seafront position is beautiful and the hotel has the potential to be magnificent but they should just shut it down to refurbish it. Disabled travellers should ask to be relocated in one of the sister hotels as there is one lift (the old fashioned kind where you pull a grille across and shut a door) and the corridor is so narrow you cannot turn to get it into it. Even with several of us to help my mum's chair got bashed to bits - for a solo disabled traveller it would be impossible. The breakfast was ok and the lobby spacious but with bashed sofas with the lining hanging out. A particular mention must be given to the toilets which are unmarked, down an unlit corridor with bits of wood etc lying about to trip you up and is like something out of a horror film. Grim.

Room Tip: Don't bother staying here!
