The service we received was excellent during our stay. Julie and Alex were excelent hosts. The rooms were decorated to a very high standard with every detail thought about.
The gold award was well deserved.

Once again , Julie and Alex have out done themselves especially where the rooms are concerned as they have been upgraded. The food once again was excellent. We thought the home made fruit loaf and the lemon curd were fantastic.Again the only downside was that we had to walk every
everywhere in order to walk
off Alex's wonderful food. Thank you once again Julie and ALex for making our stay so relaxing, also our thanks to your sons for their service in the dining room.

This was our fourth visit to the Alexander (the second this year) and it certainly won't be our last! Previous contributors have really said it all. The Alexander is a great place to stay for a short break or a longer holiday. Alex and Julie have got it just right, providing a welcoming and well managed establishment, which is excellent value for money. Well done once again!

We have been going to Scarborough for the past fourteen years. My wife and i decided to try another hotel. We checked the websites for hotels in scarborough and found this one The Alexander Hotel. We were not disappointed from the moment we arrived, Julie and Alex made us very welcome. The cleanliness, friendliness and the whole atmosphere of the hotel is absolutely outstanding. Alex"s breakfasts are amazing, as with the evening meals. We feel we came as guests and went away as friends. Nothing is a problem to Julie or Alex in fact they have just been awarded the Gold award. In fact we have booked again to return in September for another week.

In June we picked the 'Alexander' out of the Scarborough hotels' book: it was a purely random choice. And how lucky we were! So lucky, in fact, that within a week of our departure we booked a return visit!

We were pleased to be able to have the same room as before. It is spacious and was spotlessly clean - and this leads us to putting in a word for those responsible for its daily attention. They do a faultless job.

No sooner had we arrived than we were - on both visits - welcomed with coffee and biscuits - a lovely touch.

The breakfast offers a wide range of items from which to choose; and whatever you select is excellently prepared and served promptly

Prior to our first trip, we had asked about the quickest way to the promenade. It is via a secluded path that goes down to the Open Air Theatre in Northstead Manor Gardens and then alongside the Minature Railway track. And before you know where you are, you are breathing in the bracing air on the sea front.

We had gone to Scarborough on both occasions for the Spa Orchestra performance in Peasholm Park - and how convenient is the hotel for the Park and, indeed, for all the amenities on the Norh side of the resort.

To depart for home was to leave you thinking, 'I hope it won't be long before we're back!'

The hotel is ideally situated in Burniston Road and is near to the amenities of the quieter North Bay, close to Peasholm Park, the recently superb refurbishment of the outdoor theatre and the beach just a few minutes walk. It also has its own off road parking to the front and sides of the establishment.

On arrival we were greeted by the owners Julie and Alex, and made to feel very welcome as valued guests, and not just as a commodity like some of the larger establishments. Our luxury room with en suite was large and decorated to an extremely high standard with modern furniture, including a 37” digital flat screen TV, with the beautifully co-ordinated soft furnishings finishing off the room. Double glazed windows blocked out what little traffic noise there was at night time, and the sumptuous king sized bed gave us a perfect night’s sleep.

There was plenty of choice available for breakfast, and the full English was cooked to perfection, with excellent service. Unfortunately we weren’t able to sample the evening meal on our arrival day, so I would recommend that future guests call a day or two beforehand, however, if the cooked breakfast is indicative of the evening meal, I’m sure we wouldn’t have been disappointed.

What was very clear from our stay at the Alexander is that the proprietors take extreme pride in their Hotel as it was excellently presented and scrupulously clean. I would definitely recommend The Alexander Hotel, for a weekend or an even longer stay, either way I feel it is only a matter of time before we return.
