Just before i start this review i will say we only paid £39 for the two of us for a room and breakfast where else can you find a hotel for this price however that shouldnt really excuse some things. My Wife had always wanted to stay in the Grand in Scarborough so we booked a cheap late deal. We arrived on a Sunday at around 10.30am and the staff where helpful and polite and we left our luggage and were advised check in would be from 2pm thi was great as we could go off and look around Scarborugh etc. When we returned just after 2pm we were able to check in quickly, No queue! Unlike many on here have mentioned maybe we were just lucky. Reception area and the grand staircase are very impressive and i can imagne in it's heyday this place was really something. The room well, yes the decor is out dated and overall the rooms do need updating as they are tatty - ripped wallpaper and very dusty in places. We were on the 6th floor and did not have a sea view but did have a window that looked outof the rear of the hotel my one complaint and like a lot of other hotels we were unable to open the window fully (health and safety issue to stop people throwing themselves out of the window which gon by some previous reviews it's...More
