I just wanted to respond to the comments from 'holidaylady69' because I have stayed in room 11 for a brief spell during each of the past three years! The room is fine and, yes, there is a sign near the shower advising guests how to get clean towels should they require them. The owners of the hotel are a lovely couple, very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is clean and the breakfasts are very good. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this hotel to you if you are visiting Scarborough.

Stayed here with friends on a Golfing break for 3 nights in June for the last 3 years. The owners are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble, the rooms are spotless and the breakfast is fantastic and sets you up for the day. Highly recommend and great value for money, if you're looking for an inexpensive nice place to stay in a great location then this is the place to go !

We have just come back from a 3 night stay at this B&B. After reading all of the reviews I was really looking forward to our stay. We had room 11. It did say that the views of the sea were limited - what an understatement. You had to stand on the seat to look out of the window or climb on top of the bunk beds to see out side. The room was a family room, one double and bunk beds. Just as in the pictures on the site. Unfortunately, things were not what I would have expected with the room. Beside the dressing table they had left a bar stool to sit on - please explain what use it is as if you sat on it you could not see the mirror on the dressing table. They only left 2 large bath towels and 1 hand towel for 4 people. These were not changed at all even thought they must have realised that they were soaken wet after we all had a shower. This meant that when we got back late tea time we had to use wet towels after our shower in the evening. The beds were never made in the 3 nights - we made them ourselves. They did not empty the rubbish even thought the bin was over flowing. We had to put our rubbish into a large plastic bag, this was then taken away. My grandchildren spilt some crisps on the floor and they were not hoovered up. The curtains did not have enought hooks and were hanging off. Having said all of this the rest of the hotel was spotless except for the door to the dining room. The window needs a good clean. The breakfast was excellent could not fault this at all. The lady who runs the hotel was really nice and I do feel awfull that we did not complain to her I should have told her my feelings. Scarborough was not what we expected. We ususally go abroad with the grandchildren but this year because of the money situation we decided to try England. Don't think we shall be doing this again. England is not geared up to families. We had trouble finding places where children were allowed in after 8pm. On the Sunday we arrived could not find a bar meal anywhere after 6.30pm. Eventually found somewhere and it was awfull. Sorry but it was a dissapointment.

Room Tip: Do not take room 11 unless you check it first

As the owner of the guest house I feel very upset at this review.
Our Room 11 is always described as a sea view room but only from STANDING HEIGHT. This is displayed on the room description that the guest read before booking here. There are pictures showing the room and the window height can be seen in these also. I am disturbed to think that they were actually standing on my furniture to see out of the windows as this is not the way that guests should behave, but it does explain why the bed side cabinet beside the bunk beds is now broken and has had to be replaced. Why allow children or anyone to stand on furniture!
The dressing table in the room has a matching stool that this guest has taken a picture off. This is a complete set and not as described "A BAR STOOL".
We always ensure that the correct number of towels are left for the size of the party entering each room. In this case there were 4 large bath towels, 2 hand towels and one bath mat left. More than adequate I feel. Our policy is to change any towels that are placed within the shower tray daily. There is a sign in every bathroom stating this. This guest however had the DO NOT DISTURB sign constantly on the room door so we were never able to check the room or do any form of housekeeping. If however the guests had wanted towels at any point in the day, i am always available and would have provided them had they asked. This is an extremley busy time of year and i am seldom away from the hotel.
The DO NOT DISTURB sign being on the door also explains why this guests bins were not emptied or their beds made. I respect my guests privacy and do not enter if this sign is displayed. Had they wanted the room servicing and towels replacing perhaps they should have removed the sign!
As you can see from the picture of the curtains they are most definately not hanging off and have more than enough hooks on them. After this guest had stayed however the curtains behind the bunk beds had been pulled off and some of the hooks were broken. Obviously a case of rough children again!
The door into the dining room is cleaned daily after each breakfast service. Obviously it will attract some dirt as the main leaflet display is behind it and guests are constantly looking at these. We do however as i say clean it each morning but it would be an endless task to clean it after every guest had been to the leaflets!
Had this guest brought to my attention any of these complaints whilst they were here i would of course rectified them immediately.
It is obviously the case that they didnot enjoy Scarborough and feel that this is down to the hotel. Every room in our hotel has a brochure listing places to eat and showing were they are on a map. As we have children ourselves we point out places that are more than happy to allow children in after 8pm, and i would like to point out there are many. England can not be described as a place that is not geared up for families. Scarborough itself is a seaside family resort and has been popular with families for many years , just like many other towns around the country.
We always try to please every guest and make every effort to ensure that all holidays are special. These guests obviously wanted a holiday abroad but for financial reasons could not afford it. Therefore they came with the expectation that it was not going to be what they wanted and would have been disappointed whatever had happened.
