“Smooth jazz and a great stay”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

This is a boutique style hotel with a jazz-based theme. We stayed for two nights and had dinner on one of them in the restaurant which also had a smooth jazz trio playing - they were really excellent. The staff were very helpful and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. We had one of the larger rooms which was great - beautifully furnished and very spacious. The food was great - the restaurant food was locally sourced and very high quality. Good position in Scarborough - at the cliff top of the South Bay and overlooking a lovely garden within the Victorian (I think!) crescent. And if you like a bit of shopping, it's very close to the main shopping area!

Room Tip: Apparently some rooms have a sloping ceiling, so let them know if you're particularly tall!

Stayed one night Saturday 25th to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lovely looking building from the outside. Very friendly welcome when checking in. The room was fab, decor good. Bottle of wine and box of chocolates waiting for us which was a really nice touch. Very clean!!! Had evening meal in Marmalades restaurant which was amazing. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Entertained by a jazz group whilst eating. Full English breakfast went down well. Would definitely stay there again.thanks

This was a lovely trip away with my husband. Scarborough is a beautiful place and we found this hotel on the South Side to be very nice. It is tucked away on the Crescent and our room looked over the Crescent with views towards the Spa complex. The food in the resaurant is very good and we both had steak and a bottle of nice red wine.

The staff are very polite and nice and this added to our experience when staying here. We have stayed at quite a few hotels in Scarborough over the years and this ranks among the best in Scarborough and provides a relaxing break for anyones trip.

My recent stay at Beiderbecke's was a stand-out experience. The staff were very considerate in allocating suitable rooms to our party and were always ready with help and advice. They were also very flexible and were able to accommodate our needs. The rooms were large well equipped. Breakfasts were well up to the mark; I can recommend the kippers. The position is great - a short walk from the cliff-lift and beach, the theatre, the station, shops.

The hotel's special offer meant that we got excellent value for money. I recommend checking the hotel's own web site for offers as they can be better than those run by the usual agents.

Me and my husband stayed one night. Couldnt get parked at all on the seafront,so the receptionist let us park at the hotel early before checking in, very helpful. Upon booking in at the hotel, hotel was very clean and spacious. Room was big, with good size bathroom. Room was spotless and plenty of towels. Breakfast was just as good. Would definately return.

Attended a function at this hotel and the food we received was the worst ever. The meal cost us £25 each and it consisted of cheap tomato soup as the starter followed by part cooked chicken rolled with lightly cooked bacon, sliced potatos that were hard and also uncooked, cabbage leaf stuffed with undercooked carrots all covered with a small amount of tepid gravey. The desert was supposed to be creme brulie but it was just cold custurd with a glazed topping with a sweet biscuit. Some people asked for their main course to be swapped but when it was returned it had been put into the microwave for a couple of minutes and was no better. Most people barely ate any of the meal.
My wife ate some of her soup and chicken and she spent half the night throwing up.
The hotel itself looked average, hardly anyone else in the bar, they had young foreign girls for staff and the chef / head waiter didn't look like they cared if the food was rubbish or not. We will avoid this place in future.

Room Tip: Don't both choose another hotel.

This boutique hotel is brilliant. Great location, free parking and off street parking. The staff are delightful, so friendly and attentive from the waiting staff to the receptionists. The rooms are nice and spacious, clean and the bathroom had a lovely selection of toiletries, including make-up remover facial wipes for ladies. They really thought of everything! The marmalades restaurant was very nice, great at breakfast and so romantic at dinner with a live jazz band- it was super and the food was excellent, the waiting staff were great. We had a really lovely romantic break at this hotel and it was so relaxing. Really 10 out of 10.
