“Fresh and fantastic value.”
Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

Easy to find in the high street is Mother Hubbards. Here you'll find a clean recently refurbished fish and chip restaurant with the look of an old world tea room.
Staff are friendly and food cooked fresh to order. Tea time specials or OAP deals are if excellent value.
Wheel chair lift and stair lifts for accessibility for all.

“3 day birthday treat at Scarborough”
Reviewed April 20, 2014

We usually come for three days to Scarborough each year, and everytime we go to the
Mother Hubbard.
Both my Husband and I have had the "Pensioner Special" on the last two occasions which is
excellent.
It is not greasy but with plenty of chips and fish; which are really tasty and fresh.
The Pensioner Special consists of a soup or fruit juice, then fish. chips, bread and butter and
tea/or coffee and an icecream. The mushroom soup was delicious and the icecream was too.
All for £6.95 - excellent.!!

“Best fish and chips in Scarborough”
Reviewed April 14, 2014

Fish and chips are delicious and not at all greasy. They taste lovely and freshly cooked. The service is quick and the prices are cheap for the quality of food you get.

Would highly recommend the bread and butter pudding for dessert too.

Yes it is a little bit old fashioned in terms of the decor and music but it is exactly what you would expect from a fish and chip restaurant in an English seaside town and this gives it a nice relaxed feel.

“Lunchtime visit”
Reviewed March 27, 2014

We were recommended to eat here because of its reputation as a good fish restaurant. And so it was!! My husband had traditional fish and chips and I had the home made fish cakes. The restaurant was clean and airy and comfortable and the waitresses were friendly and helpful. It was quite busy but we were not made to feel rushed with our meal. The restaurant is upstairs but they have a lift, which is very helpful. Apparently, when they have runn out of fresh fish for the day, then they close, so I'd go early if I were you. Definitely one to earmark for our next visit to Scarborough!

“Upper class chippy with Wetherspoons prices 10/10”
Reviewed March 7, 2014

Found this gem on a visit to Scarborough,we originally intended to eat at Wetherspoons which we found packed, looked across the street & saw Mother Hubbards which looked very inviting.
On entering,by stairs (lift provided if required) we found an 'Upper class chippy'
Were greeted by very friendly lady, service fast & efficient, nothing too much trouble. The place was spottless & didn't whiff heavily of the trademark fried food smell associated with fish & chip restaurants.
Ordered Haddock, chips & mushy peas, enormous fish with light batter, lovely chips & very tasty mushy peas, bread & butter & cup of tea (perfect brew)
Would definately visit again.

Upper class chippy with working class chippy prices!
