“Welcoming”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

We only called into Coast for coffees but would definitely go back thanks to the lovely man who served us (one of the owners I presume). He couldn't do enough to help when my mum asked for advice on the hanging system used in the gallery, even though he was obviously busy serving his customers. And you don't usually get offered a glass of water with your espresso in Scarborough...I'll be back to try those scones soon!

“Cheese Cheese and more Cheese”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

If you like cheese than the cheese scones at the Coast Gallery are the thing for you. One of the best cheese scones I have had and I even had extra cheese on the side complete with tasty pickle. After having this excellent repast in this delightful gallery I am in danger of turning into a regular Ben Gunn - although it was toasted cheese he dreamt of- but I thoroughly enjoyed eveything about my visit to the 'Coast'.
I was most impressed to see that the 'No Smoking' was extended out into the the pleasant outside area. How good for non smokers to be able, on a warm sunny day ,to enjoy ,yes ,their cheese scones outdoors without having to breathe in someone else's smoke.

“Enjoy art and enjoy excellant coffee and cake.”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

You'll really in for a treat in this gallery in every sense of the word. Exciting art work beautifully displayed and affordable. It's handy to know that you can buy gift vouchers so family friends can have a food fest or buy some art work.
The owners are very welcoming and happy to let you browse at leisure but interesting to talk to if you want.
There's an open fire in the winter, out door seating for brighter days and comfy seating where you can enjoy excellant coffee, snacks or have a light lunch while looking at the art work. I recommend the quiche, apple pie, carrot cake, mouth watering at the thought.
Closed Thursdays plus Wednesdays in the winter.

“This is a super place to visit.”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

We sometimes walk here from Scarborough on the old railway line, then after lunch or tea & cakes, we catch the bus home again.
This is a super place to visit, there's always some good art on display, and we always get a warm welcome.
On a sunny day, you can sit outside.
The food is very good, as are the cakes, tea and coffee.
Well worth a visit.

“Great refreshments & artwork”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

In need of refreshment as we headed north on the A171,on the outskirts of Scarborough the Coast Gallery & Tea Room came into sight. Parking just outside, off the road we entered to a wealth of artwork on display. We really needed a coffee, but didn't get futher than the entrance area! Photo cards, paintings and ceramics caught our attention. Walking further in, a very light and airy yet cosy tea room area greeted us. With display cabinets of wood carvings and paintings around the walls. Wandering around we discovered two exhibtions in the far part of the buidling which we also enjoyed looking around. All the art was for sale.
A very friendly chap, the owner I think, chatted with us as we ordered coffee. He was very helpful offering information to us about the area, a part of the UK new to us as well as the gallery and artists displayed. The coffee was spot on and although we didn't eat, the cakes and other food looked delicious, we'll be back next time we are in the region. For lunch!
Check out the carved wood tip box, a beautifully crafted cup, saucer and spoon.
