In need of refreshment as we headed north on the A171,on the outskirts of Scarborough the Coast Gallery & Tea Room came into sight. Parking just outside, off the road we entered to a wealth of artwork on display. We really needed a coffee, but didn't get futher than the entrance area! Photo cards, paintings and ceramics caught our attention. Walking further in, a very light and airy yet cosy tea room area greeted us. With display cabinets of wood carvings and paintings around the walls. Wandering around we discovered two exhibtions in the far part of the buidling which we also enjoyed looking around. All the art was for sale.
A very friendly chap, the owner I think, chatted with us as we ordered coffee. He was very helpful offering information to us about the area, a part of the UK new to us as well as the gallery and artists displayed. The coffee was spot on and although we didn't eat, the cakes and other food looked delicious, we'll be back next time we are in the region. For lunch!
Check out the carved wood tip box, a beautifully crafted cup, saucer and spoon.

I discovered this excellent tea room and gallery shortly after it had opened and I always visit it when in the Scarborough area. The exhibitions are well set out, the cards tasteful and the owners have a wealth of knowledge about the exhibitors. The cleanliness and ambience is of a very high standard and the staff are accomodating and friendly and provide a first class service and they are only to pleased to help in any way they can- even with requests to take away the excellent scones! The sandwiches are delicious, the soup is wholesome and hot, the chocolate cake is to die for but there again so is the fruit cake, the shortbread, the bakewell tart and the coffee cake.I could go on and on but end by saying the Coast Galery is certainly well worth a visit and I look forward to visiting again when next in the area.

Dropped by here as they have Joe Cornish photographs but their other range of artworks is excellent. The coffee and chocolate cake was not only delicious but very reasonable too. Well worth a stop if you are driving between Scarborough and Whitby. The staff were also very friendly nad helpful.

We visited The Coast Gallery after our weekend in Whitby and what a wonderful cosy tearoom. The Gallery was filled with splendid pieces but the food was superb... The Cheese Sandwich was the best I had ever had - anywhere and then there was the cake(s).... wicked and wonderful.... a lovely tea room worth a visit if your on your way to or from the coast... Lovely friendly staff, a pleasure to have stopped for an hr..... Thanks.

Located in Cloughton on the outskirts of Scarborough you'll find this small island of tranquility and warmth. If you're passing its well worth a stop.

The gallery offers a selection of good quality fresh home made sandwiches and cakes along with traditional teas & coffees. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The toilets are outdoors but modern and clean.

The walls display the art from artists including Freddie Gilroy, Ian Mitchel and Tracey Savage.

The prices were very reasonable at £12 for 2 (tea and cakes).
