In need of refreshment as we headed north on the A171,on the outskirts of Scarborough the Coast Gallery & Tea Room came into sight. Parking just outside, off the road we entered to a wealth of artwork on display. We really needed a coffee, but didn't get futher than the entrance area! Photo cards, paintings and ceramics caught our attention. Walking further in, a very light and airy yet cosy tea room area greeted us. With display cabinets of wood carvings and paintings around the walls. Wandering around we discovered two exhibtions in the far part of the buidling which we also enjoyed looking around. All the art was for sale.
A very friendly chap, the owner I think, chatted with us as we ordered coffee. He was very helpful offering information to us about the area, a part of the UK new to us as well as the gallery and artists displayed. The coffee was spot on and although we didn't eat, the cakes and other food looked delicious, we'll be back next time we are in the region. For lunch!
Check out the carved wood tip box, a beautifully crafted cup, saucer and spoon.
