I have visited the Tea Room many times (I have family in the area).
I have also stayed several times for bed and breakfast.
I can only echo all the positive comments.
The Station House is a haven in a truly idyllic part of Yorkshire.
Steve and Barbara are the warmest people you could wish to meet and I so look forward to my visits.
The garden is relaxing and beautiful and in the Winter the Tea Room has a lovely fire to welcome guests.

Room Tip: Both rooms are delightful. There are also 2 self-catering accommodation with their own gardens.

Stayed for 2 nights last week in the old ticket office-fantastic room, great facilities and amazing breakfast. The Hargreave family are wonderful hosts, and their staff are a credit to them too. Definitely will be booking to stay again, we were made so welcome. The strawberry merengues with toffee sauce are to die for too, worth a visit just for them! Only downside-they only had 2 nights free!

I have stayed at the Station House quite a few times when visiting an elderly friend who lives nearby. The room is spotless, (and I am quite fussy), the garden is magnificent and I have often woken up to find a peacock in the garden (not a noisy peacock). Steve and Barbara could not be kinder or more welcoming,.Nothing is too much trouble for them and their son John. The lovely girls who help out in the tea-room are also charming and always helpful. I would challenge anyone to find a better breakfast anywhere. There are lots of lovely little touches like magazines in the bedroom, a couple of wine glasses for anyone wanting to sit outside in the evening with a good book and a glass of wine (table and chairs just outside the double doors leading directly to the garden ). Fresh milk for tea or coffee in an insulated container. Flat screen TV. Full size toiletries. Lots of fluffy towels. Videos, hairdryer. choice of drinks including hot chocolate, ovaltine, tea and coffee and chocolate biscuits. I really don't know how they do it for the money and have mentioned to them more than once that they should charge more than they do. The only possible improvement that I could think of would be to change the wicker sofa at the bottom of the bed for a couple of armchairs, but that is a personal thing, I really love to have a comfortable armchair to relax in. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Had a great cream tea in the garden of this wonderful old station on the disused Whitby to Scarborough line which can actually be walked or cycled.
We had scones and a tidy Eton Mess [meringue filled with cream and topped with strawberries and toffee sauce.

Amazing - the accommodation was lovely, spottlessly clean and very well maintained. Breakfast could not be beaten! We were booked into the old Ticket office. The old station buildings have been beautifully restored - there are two B+B rooms in the old covered goods yard and ticket office. Then the old goods shed and a carriage offer self-catering options. Breakfast was served in the old Station Master's Parlour - it was served on a platter for each roomso you could pick and choose. It also varied each day which was a really nice touch - different potatoes, different eggs and beans! The track bed and station masters parlour is a tea garden. Steve and Barbara are the owners and are very hospitable. Didn't get to sample the tea gardens but if the breakfast is anything to go by you won't be dissapointed. If you like walking this is a great location with loads of walks nearby - the Cinder Trail (Scarborough to Whitby) literally passes the front door as it follows the old railway line.
