My husband and I live locally, we'd seen this place so many times and said we should try it, and we eventually got round to going. We went mid week, it was very quiet, but don't let this put you off. Friendly service, a complimentary little bread loaf and pâté was a nice touch to keep us while we waited (not long) for our meals. Nice big hearty meals, I had ribeye, my husband had a steak special, both delicious and plates cleared. Reasonably priced, very happy all round, will be sure to go again!

This is one of the best meals we have had for along time. The waitress couldn't do enough for us, the starters and the mains were delicious with a touch of class. Also a little bread & pate appetiser was a nice surprise. Superb

Visited with a HiLife card which was declared on booking. Great food and attentive service. The restaurant is a little cosy and certainly rustic but don't let that put you off. The entrance, down narrow stone steps is also easy to miss. When the time came to pay, there was then a little confusion about whether HiLife was still accepted but after a phone call to the owner by the front of house staff, everything sorted so we willbe back. Well done.

Blink and you may miss this restaurant as the entrance is downstairs off the street. Don't miss a treat. We went on a Thursday at 7.30pm without a reservation, which wasn't necessary as we were the first diners. A group of four diners came in half hour after us. It's cosy in the restaurant and I can imagine a great atmosphere when busy. Jess, our waitress, hasn't been there long but obviously wanted everything to be nice and cared about customers and that's a great way to start. Whilst we perused the menu we were given complimentary bread and homemade chicken and bacon pate. Very nice. Our starters of chowder and a very unusual Spanish influenced gammon and chorizo served on stir-fry vegetables promptly arrived. Delicious. Our mains, sirloin steaks, one requested rare and the other medium came on huge plates with a supporting cast of homemade onion rings, seasoned fat chips, mushroom, grilled tomatoes, side salad and our choice of Yorkshire blue and pepper sauces. Both steaks were done to our liking. Lovely. Great food, couple of bottles of house red with our food followed by coffees and two very generous brandys rounded off a very pleasant evening indeed.
